A Fun Way to Keep Learning All Summer Long!

We are excited to invite all students to our Summer Reading and Math Challenge! This is a simple, fun way to keep your child's mind active, their imagination soaring, and their reading and math skills strong until school starts again.

How Your Child Can Join the Challenge:
It's easy to participate—just three steps!
1. Read one book your child chooses (it should be a topic they love!). The local library is a great resource for books (and provides summer reading incentives!).
2. Complete one creative project about the book (project ideas are listed below).
3. Complete the Zearn summer activities to keep math skills sharp.

Quick Checklist for the Reading Portion:
●The book should be right for your child's age.
●It should be a book they genuinely enjoy and want to talk about.
●They need to create one project to show what they learned from the book.

What to Include in the Project:
No matter which project your child chooses (see list below), it should:
●Be neat and show effort.
●Include the book's title and author, and the student's name/upcoming grade level.
●Feature a creative summary of the book (but please, don't spoil the ending!).
●Explain key parts like the main characters, the main conflict, an important lesson or
theme, and your child's favorite part.

Fun Project Options (Choose ONE):
1. Book in a Box: Decorate a box with symbols, objects, and illustrations representing the story.
2. Poster or Storyboard: Create a visual summary using illustrations, quotes,
vocabulary, and important events.
3. Character Diary: Write journal entries from the perspective of a character in the book.
4. Newspaper Front Page: Design a newspaper highlighting major events from the story.
5. Book Trailer, Commercial, or Brochure: Create a short video, commercial, or brochure that encourages others to read the book.
6. Diorama or Model: Build a scene from the book using craft materials.
7. Podcast or Interview: Record an interview with a character or discuss the book like a podcast host.
8. Alternate Ending: Write and illustrate a new ending for the story.
9. Choice Board Project: Create another project idea with parental approval.

Rewards for Taking Part:
Students who complete the challenge will receive:
●Special recognition.
●A snack or treat.
●Entry into a prize drawing.

Why This Challenge Matters (Benefits for Your Child):
●It helps maintain and strengthen learning skills.
●It builds reading stamina and focus.
●It ensures your child starts the new school year feeling confident and prepared!

Sharing and Celebrating (First Weeks of School)
During the first weeks of the 26-27 school year, participating students will:
1. Share their project and recommend their book with classmates.
2. Celebrate their strong start to the school year!

The best part: This is not a graded activity. The main goal is to build your child's confidence, communication skills, and excitement for reading and math, giving them a strong start to the school year!

☀️ We know, we know—summer just started! But while back-to-school season feels miles away, we’re dropping our official school supply lists early this year. 📝✨

Why now? Because we want to save you time, stress, and money.

🛒 Shop the sales early: Beat the chaotic August rush and grab items when they’re actually in stock.
🏷️ Spread out the budget: Buying a few things over June and July is a lot easier on the wallet than one massive target run later on.

Enjoy your summer knowing this is already checked off your list! Tap the link in our bio to view and shop the lists. 🔗👇

Happy Retirement to the wonderful Stephanie Owens as well! Although she skipped out on the retirement celebration, we cannot let her leave without a shout out! 🍎✨

Champ Cooper won't be the same without your smiling face in the cafeteria. Thank you for always being so incredibly kind to every student and staff member who walked through your line. Being a lunch lady is about so much more than serving food—it’s about feeding the soul with kindness, and you did that every single day.

We love you, Ms. Stephanie! Enjoy this next chapter—you’ve earned every bit of it! 🎉🥂💛

Big cougar shoutout to Haleah Thompson, Abby Stein, Abby Solar and Rayah Byers (not pictured).

These amazing students gave up their own lunch and PE time today to volunteer and help out with our Kindergarten PE classes. We are so incredibly proud of the fantastic role models they are to our youngest learners.

Thank you for your leadership, kindness, and big hearts! 🧡

Happy Retirement to Two Incredible Leaders at Champ Cooper! 🍎🎉

Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate and congratulate two amazing staff members who are turning the page to their next exciting chapter: Brian Freeman and Patty Travis!

Patty Travis has been a pillar of the Champ Cooper community for over 20 years. Dedicating over two decades to shaping young minds is no small feat. Patty, your incredible impact on the education, growth, and lives of countless students will be felt for generations to come. Thank you for your unwavering dedication, your passion, and the endless love you've poured into our school.

Brian Freeman, our Assistant Principal, may have only been with us for two years, but he made every moment count! In his time here, Brian’s leadership, support, and energy have left a lasting mark on our students and staff alike. We are so grateful for the dedication he brought to Champ Cooper every single day.

"Teaching is the intermission; retirement is the main show."

Join us in wishing both Patty and Brian a retirement filled with relaxation, adventure, and well-deserved rest. Thank you both for everything—you will be dearly missed! 🥳✨
