Port Lavaca Designated Film Friendly Texas Certified Community
AUSTIN – The Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office within the Office of the Governor today announced the City of Port Lavaca has been designated by the Texas Film Commission as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community after completing the multi-step training and certification process.
“Congratulations to Port Lavaca on joining more than 200 Film Friendly Texas Certified Communities,” said Governor Greg Abbott. “The Texas Film Commission partners with communities in every region of the state to market their unique appeal and attract new investments in media production. Through ongoing Film Friendly Texas training, communities are prepared to support media production, spurring on-site spending at local businesses and creating good-paying jobs for Texans.”
“Congratulations to the City of Port Lavaca on being designated a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Film Commission,” said Senator Lois Kolkhorst. “With its unique coastal character and natural beauty, Port Lavaca is an ideal setting for film and media productions, and this recognition will help attract new projects that support local jobs, boost tourism, and strengthen the regional economy.”
“Port Lavaca is a jewel in the Texas coast,” said Representative JM Lozano. “I can think of no better city to receive this designation as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community.”
“Becoming a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community is another opportunity for Port Lavaca to promote economic growth and highlight our coastal community to a wider audience,” said Port Lavaca Mayor Luis De La Garza. “We are proud to partner with the State of Texas in supporting the film industry and welcoming new opportunities to our city.”
“As a community surrounded by some of Texas’ most beautiful coastal landscapes, Port Lavaca offers a setting unlike anywhere else in the state,” said Port Lavaca City Manager Jody Weaver. “Achieving Film Friendly Texas certification allows us to showcase our unique coastal heritage, scenic bayfront, natural resources, and welcoming spirit to a wider audience while creating new opportunities for our city. We look forward to sharing the character and beauty of Port Lavaca with filmmakers and visitors alike.”
More than 200 Film Friendly Texas Certified Communities across the state receive ongoing training and guidance from the Texas Film Commission on media industry standards, best practices, and how to effectively accommodate on-location filming activity in their community.
