For nearly four decades, Dr. Poison Waters has been a beloved champion of Cascade AIDS Project, Our House of Portland, Prism Health, and the communities we are honored to serve.
Beginning her journey with CAP in 1988, Poison’s commitment has spanned generations of HIV and LGBTQ+ advocacy. From directing Camp Starlight (2001–2012) to Camp KC (2013–present), and through more than two decades of unwavering support of our Art Auction, AIDS Walk, and countless community events, Poison has shared her extraordinary gifts as an entertainer, advocate, volunteer, mentor, and philanthropist.
Through her own fundraising efforts, her countless hours of service, and her leadership in shaping events that inspire generosity, Poison has directly helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and has influenced the raising of tens of millions of dollars in support of HIV services, LGBTQ+ healthcare, housing, youth programs, and compassionate care.
Whether on stage with her signature humor and heart, behind the scenes offering guidance, serving in leadership roles, or showing up whenever our community calls, Poison has remained a constant source of joy, hope, and action.
Dr. Poison Waters embodies the very spirit of service, compassion, resilience, and community that the title of Queen Mother II of the Americas represents.
