Our Library Field Trip to Blue Marsh Lake has been postponed due to this morning's rainy weather. Stay tuned for an updated date and time! While our registration was full for today's date, there may still be spots for the new date.

What's happening at Reading Public Library this week?

We have a busy schedule this summer, so we thought we would share some highlights of our upcoming week! Pictured in this post is our Art Exploration program with Miss Sarah at Northeast Branch, happening tomorrow - Keep reading for details.

🌞 Art Exploration with Miss Sarah - Tuesday, June 23 at 2:30PM at Northeast
Elementary and middle school age artists can enjoy 8 weeks of art projects with local artist and children’s librarian Sarah Kiebach! Artists will explore different cultures and periods of time while participants learn new creative techniques for expressing themselves and making art.

🌞 Fossil Exploration with Reading Public Museum - Wednesday, June 24 (Two times and locations)
Kids will enjoy a free hands-on exploration of fossils with a Reading Public Museum Educator and make their very own trace fossil craft! Southeast Branch's exploration is at 10AM, and Main Children's will happen at 3:30PM. Another date is scheduled in July for Northeast and Northwest Branches.

🌞 Junk Journal Workshop for Adults - Saturday, June 27 from 10AM - 12PM at RPL Main
Turn everyday trash into something creative, personal, and fun! This is the first of many wonderful art programs offered for adults all summer long at RPL.

🌞 Rockin' Through History & Party for the United States' 250th Birthday - Tuesday, June 30 at 2PM at RPL Main Children's Dept.
Reading School District teacher Damien Drago is going to rock through history with his storytelling journey through the founding of our nation! We will have a party for the USA's birthday with cake and drinks to follow!

We are pleased to share a new video series in partnership with BCTV Berks, "Say It Together - Dilo Juntos"! In this series, Reference Librarian Dalai will teach us everyday vocabulary in English and Spanish. In this video, learn about introductions and greetings!

Borrowing a new book for free at RPL > Paying to borrow a book on a subscription based app 🫡

Not to mention we boast a digital collection of over 25,000 titles on Libby, which is complimentary for library patrons in the Reading District here in Berks County!

PLUS... folks who live, work, or go to school in the City of Reading have access to another digital subscription, Hoopla, which offers a variety of media to borrow from RPL, including movies and music!
