Scammer alert 🚨‼️🚨 A Redkey resident shared with me a transcript from a resident who was targeted by a scam. Please be advised that the Town of Redkey does not have a “Hardship Service Department of Redkey.”

A general rule to keep in mind: if you are uncertain about any request, ask the company or caller to send you a letter via mail. Legitimate entities should already possess your current address and information without requiring you to provide it.

We are still receiving several calls and seeing numerous posts about lost animals, abandoned animals, and animals running at large.

Unfortunately, we have no where to house these animals at this time. We try to give residents a break on animals running at large, but if the animal is violent, destroys property, or attacks other animals, we will issue an ordinance violation to the owner.

**BAN HAS EXPIRED**
🚫🔥 Burn Ban Issued for Jay County 🔥🚫

The Jay County Commissioners have announced a countywide burn ban effective 9:00 AM on March 21, 2026.

Due to ongoing drought conditions and a rise in grass and brush fires, Jay County Fire Chiefs requested this ban to help protect lives and property.

🗓️ The burn ban will remain in effect through March 27, 2026, unless it is lifted earlier.

Please follow all restrictions and help keep our community safe!

We want to clarify that these messages are not from the Indiana BMV.
