Fire season is among us and it's never bad to be prepared. Here are some essential items you should have packed and ready in case of a wildfire evacuation, and steps to take to get out as quickly as possible.

Your "Go Bag" should include the following:

✅ Copies of IDs, insurance policies, birth certificates, Social security cards, etc. Store them in a waterproof bag that's in an easy to reach, grab and go spot.

✅ Valuables such as money, jewelry, guns, family heirlooms, special old pictures, computers, etc.

✅ A change of clothes, sturdy shoes, cash, and emergency blankets.

✅ Medical Supplies like a first-aid kit, prescriptions, and extra eyeglasses.

✅ Food and prescriptions for your pets.

Things You Can Do Now to Make the Process Smoother & Quicker:

✅ Document your belongings by taking a video. If your home is destroyed in a fire, this provides proof to your insurance company and can help you create a list of all your belongings.

✅ If you have pets or animals, make sure you have a safe place determined for them. Horses or larger animals may take longer to evacuate. Creating a plan ahead of time will help speed up the process. Ensure you have prescriptions for your pets and animals too.

✅ Keep your gas tank at least half full or more in case you need to escape in a direction with no gas stations.

Honorable Mentions Include:
✅ Flashlights, battery powered radio (and extra batteries), extra phone chargers, etc..

✅ A 3-day supply of nonperishable food and water (one gallon per person per day). The same goes for any pets or animals you have.

Do you have a "Go Bag" packed? You can never really be too prepared. What are some other things you would add?
