Wisdom on Comparison

Comparison has often been called the thief of joy because it shifts our focus from God’s blessings in our own lives to what He is doing in someone else’s. When we spend our time staring at another person’s plate, measuring their success, gifts, opportunities, or blessings against our own, we neglect what God has placed before us. In the process, our own plate grows cold.

God has given each person a unique calling, purpose, and season. Instead of comparing, Scripture encourages us to be faithful with what He has entrusted to us. The blessings on another person’s life are not evidence that God has forgotten you; they are reminders that He is still at work. Your responsibility is not to manage someone else’s portion but to steward your own with gratitude and diligence.

“Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.” — Galatians 6:4

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’” — Hebrews 13:5

Today, keep your eyes on Christ and the assignment He has given you. Don’t let your plate get cold while watching someone else’s meal. God has prepared exactly what you need for this season.

Today we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff members at Project Hope and Saving Grace. We are truly thankful for each of you and the calling God has placed on your lives. Your willingness to go above and beyond every day for men and women seeking hope, healing, and restoration does not go unnoticed.

Many of you have walked the same roads of struggle, addiction, and brokenness, and now God is using your testimony to help others find freedom. Because of your servant hearts, compassion, and dedication, lives are being changed and families are being restored.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus, for pouring into others, and for showing that recovery is possible through faith, perseverance, and God’s grace. We honor and appreciate each one of you today. May God continue to strengthen, bless, and guide you as you serve His purpose.

Proverbs 18 Highlight

Key Verse:
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” — Proverbs 18:10 (NKJV)

Reflection:
Proverbs 18 reminds us of the power of our words, the value of wisdom, and the security found in God. Our words can bring life or destruction, encouragement or discouragement. This chapter challenges us to be slow to speak, quick to listen, and intentional with what comes from our mouths. Most importantly, it points us to the Lord as our refuge and strength. When life’s storms come, we don’t have to rely on our own understanding—we can run to God, our strong tower, and find safety, peace, and direction.

Application:
Today, guard your words, seek wisdom before speaking, and place your trust in the Lord. Let your speech reflect Christ and your confidence rest in His faithfulness.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to use my words to build others up and not tear them down. Teach me to seek Your wisdom in every situation and to run to You as my strong tower. May my life bring honor and glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏✝️

Additional Scripture:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” — Proverbs 18:21

My name is Jose Rodriguez, and for many years addiction controlled my life. At the age of 15, I began smoking ma*****na and using co***ne. Not long after, a friend introduced me to crack co***ne. What started as experimentation quickly became a life-consuming addiction.

As my addiction grew, so did the consequences. I became involved in criminal activity and was convicted of aggravated robbery, serving five years in prison. Even after my release, the cycle of addiction continued. In total, I spent 27 years trapped in crack co***ne addiction, feeling hopeless and lost.

Everything changed when I made a phone call to Project Hope. That call became the turning point of my life. Through Project Hope, I found not only recovery but also a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Today, by the grace of God, I am sober and experiencing a new life that I never thought was possible.

God has restored so much that addiction tried to steal. He has brought healing and restoration to my family, and I am especially grateful that my wife is now cancer-free. I give all the praise and glory to God for His faithfulness and mercy.

Project Hope has also given me opportunities to grow and serve. I have been trusted to serve as a student leader and have been given the opportunity to work on the lawn crew. These responsibilities have helped me build character, purpose, and confidence as I continue my recovery journey.

My story is proof that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. No matter how long you have struggled or how far you have fallen, God can restore, redeem, and transform your life. I am living testimony that recovery is possible and that Jesus Christ changes lives.

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

To God be all the glory!
