We welcome Dusk (it/its) to the Gender Health Center as our first Narrative Therapy Clinical Fellow! Dusk is a graduate of the GHC’s Mental Health Training Program and it will support Trans Family Night group facilitation and support trainees as they learn how to effectively implement narrative practices in their community and therapy work.

The Narrative Therapy Clinical Fellowship is an advanced professional development opportunity for graduated Gender Health Center practicum students and trainees who are committed to deepening their narrative therapy practice. This one-year fellowship is designed to support clinicians in integrating narrative therapy into an area of specialized clinical interest while receiving ongoing mentorship, consultation, and experiential learning.

Congratulations, Dusk, and welcome back!

At Gender Health Center, our goal is to help our Trans communities thrive in all of their intersecting identities, including disability.

As comes to a close, we reflect on our commitment to addressing the unique challenges to care that disabled 2SLGBTQIA+ folks face and our efforts to make our resources as accessible as we can all year long.

Peer support group, but make it art. 🎨

Thank you to those who came out to last week's TransFemme and NonBinary Group, where we made Kintsugi-inspired story pots.

Whether you're processing joy, hardship, or anything in between, our TransFemme and NonBinary peer support group provides space for togetherness and community. Every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month! 💗

Did you know? July 21 marks all over the world, a date selected in honor of HIV activist Prudence Nobantu Mabele.

In our communities, HIV stigma shapes whether we feel safe getting tested, starting treatment or simply being ourselves. It pushes community members toward social isolation and unhealthy coping mechanisms, making an already hard experience harder to carry alone.

Prudence Nobantu Mabele was one of the first Black South African women to publicly share her HIV+ status in 1992, when HIV stigma was arguably at its worst. She led efforts throughout Africa to end the stigma of HIV and motivate people to get tested, treated, and active.

The future of mental health care is grounded in liberation, community, and affirming practice.

The Gender Health Center invites graduate trainees in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, and Marriage & Family Therapy who want to deepen their clinical skills while making a meaningful impact alongside LGBTQIA+, Two-Spirit, transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex communities.

As a trainee, you'll receive:
• Individual and group clinical supervision
• Specialized training in Queer-Informed Narrative Therapy, Liberation Psychotherapy, Liberatory harm reduction
• Opportunities to learn from experienced mental health providers and community health workers committed to healing justice and culturally responsive care
• Experience providing low-barrier, community-centered mental health services

The Gender Health Center is one of the few training sites in the United States offering dedicated training in queer-informed narrative therapy within an integrated, community-based setting. Our approach helps clinicians move beyond pathology and toward practices that honor identity, resilience, relationships, and collective liberation.

If you're looking for a training experience that will challenge, inspire, and transform you and your clinical practice, we'd love to hear from you.
