Comments made by the public to our social media platforms are reviewed and, while comments will not be edited by City personnel, a comment may be deleted or hidden if it violates the restricted content policy below. t for comments that do not directly relate to the purpose or topic of the social media website or for service requests. For general comments or communications concerning a specific department, please contact the City’s customer service number at 704-638-5300. You are also subject to the Terms of Service of the host site. Information you share (photos, videos, etc.) is also subject to the Terms of Service of the host site and may be used by the owners of the host site for their own purposes. Please be advised that social media content and comments are subject to the NC Public Records Statute. Restricted Content:
• Comments submitted for posting that are deemed not suitable by a Salisbury social media moderator and/or the social media committee shall be removed from the site, but retained, along with a description of the reason the specific content will not be posted. A statement of and reason for removal will be included in its place.
• The City of Salisbury media platform content, including articles, links and posts/comments containing any of the following shall not be allowed, and Salisbury reserves the right to delete submissions including, but not limited to:
o Vulgar and profane language or content
o Comments unrelated to the topic of conversation (i.e. advertisement links, spam)
o Personal attacks of any kind
o Comments or content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation
o Spam or links to websites deemed inappropriate
o Solicitation of commerce
o Conduct or encouragement of any illegal activity
o Promotion or opposition of particular services, products, person or political organizations campaigning for election to a political office or promoting or opposing any ballot proposition
o Infringe on copyrights or trademark laws and/or patents
o Sexual content or links to sexual content
o Personally identifiable medical information or social security numbers
o Information that may compromise the safety, security or proceedings of public systems or any criminal or civil investigations
o Any form of cyberbullying, cyberstalking or trolling methods
• The City of Salisbury reserves the right to restrict or remove any content that is deemed in violation of this policy or any applicable law. The content shall be retained.
