EVEN. MORE. GRANTS. AYOOOO!

That’s right, the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation's Youth Engagement Grant cycle opens today, and they're are ready to help you bring the magic of the outdoors to youth across the state! Which grant fits your vision?

Are you a non-profit, city, or tribal organization interested in taking youth on a kayaking adventure or hosting a summer camp? Or maybe you’d like to create an outdoor climbing
club or take your after school group on a fishing trip? Apply for the UCORE Grant to cover programming costs, insurance, and travel!

Are you an educator hoping to purchase binoculars to take your class on a birding excursion, or take your class to the Great Salt Lake? Maybe you’re a principal wanting to organize an overnight campout for your school? Apply for UCORE Educator Grant, new
this year and especially for formal educators!

Or maybe you’re a school, city, non-profit, or tribal organization that wants to build an outdoor classroom, green schoolyard, or wildlife viewing station! The Nature-Based Learning Infrastructure Grant funds a wide variety of permanent outdoor learning structures, such as green schoolyards and wildlife viewing stations.

Up to $15,000 is available for each of the three grants. Applications are open until September 21st! Reach out to their grant administrator for a completeness review of your application up until September 4th.

It’s event week! 🎉🥳🏜️✨

We don’t think there’s a better way to celebrate Earth Day than to plan for your trip down to Sand Hollow with the EKO Team!

If you’re joining us for the biggest EKO sleepover yet, or coming down for a paddle under the sunset, here’s some info that will help you plan for your trip! ⛺️🌅

Packing List:

👉Please bring sunscreen, sun protection, and appropriate clothing (especially swimwear and water shoes).

👉Pack sufficient food and water for your group. DINNER WILL NOT BE PROVIDED. The recommended water ratio is 2 gallons of water per person per day in hot, arid climates. There is no free water spigot. There is a pay-for-water-and-ice station at the Visitor’s Center. Come prepared with water and food.

👉Plan to bring a life jacket if you bring your own paddle board or kayak. There is a life jacket loaner station at Sand Hollow State Park if you need to borrow one.

👉If you’re camping, pack your tent, sleeping bags, sleeping pad, dinner, breakfast and anything you might need to spend the night! Temps should be getting down into the low to mid 40s overnight.

👉The activities are spread out across the park, so be prepared to walk or drive between zones. If you want to bring scooters or bikes to travel between areas, we’ll have traffic cones up to slow traffic!

There’s something about a night in the desert that just sticks with you. ⭐

The quiet. The stars. The campfire conversations you didn’t know you needed.

That’s what we’re leaning into with the Every Kid Outdoors Campout at Sand Hollow State Park () on April 24, 5 - 11 PM.

Here’s what’s waiting:

- Campfires + s’mores under the stars 🏕️
- Time to explore the water and shoreline 🛶
- A chance to connect with other outdoor families 🤝

This experience is built for kids, but the memories are for everyone.

🌸FRIDAY INSPIRATION🌸

Plants, trees, flowers and foliage are blooming all across the state (are your eyes also itching?)
As you notice all the plants around your home, notice the size, smell, colors, textures and shapes. They’re all different, right? 🌲💐🌳

Nature shows us that having a twisty trunk or bright pink blooms makes the time we spend outside new and exciting each time. The variety means you’ll never get bored!
