Lt. Reck currently serves as the Medical Officer on B Shift, where he takes great pride in providing the highest level of care to our residents. ☀️ HEAT ADVISORY: Thursday–Sunday ☀️

The National Weather Service is forecasting increasingly dangerous heat over the next several days. High temperatures could reach 105°F, with heat index values as high as 113°F. A Heat Advisory is in effect for our area each day from Thursday through Sunday, with the potential for an Extreme Heat Warning this weekend.

As temperatures climb, remember to take the heat seriously:

💧 Stay hydrated — drink plenty of water throughout the day.
🌳 Take frequent breaks and seek shade or air conditioning when possible.
🏃 Limit strenuous outdoor activity, especially during the hottest part of the day.
👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and others who may be vulnerable to the heat.
🚗 Look before you lock — never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.

Heat-related illnesses and deaths are preventable. Know your limits, watch out for one another, and stay safe as we head into another stretch of extreme South Texas heat.

🎒🚒 Back to School! 📚✏️

Today marks the first day of school for students across our community! District 7 Fire Rescue wishes all of our students, teachers, staff, and families a safe and successful school year.

As everyone settles back into their routines, please remember to:
🚌 Watch for school buses and children at bus stops
🚸 Slow down and stay alert in school zones
📵 Put the phone down while driving
⏰ Give yourself a little extra time during your morning commute

Ready to become better prepared for emergencies and learn more about the agencies that serve our community?

The Bexar County Office of Emergency Management Citizen's Academy is a five-part series designed to educate residents on the roles and responsibilities of first responders while providing the knowledge and tools needed to prepare before, during, and after emergencies. Participants will also learn about valuable resources available during times of crisis.

📅 Begins: First Wednesday of September 2026
🕕 When: Wednesdays, 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM
🎓 Participants who complete all five sessions will receive a certificate of completion.

We had the pleasure of hosting the family members of Krew last week. Krew loved fire trucks and his family honors his memory by visiting local fire stations.

As we continue through the summer we want to remind everyone to practice safety while swimming.

-Actively supervise children
-Never swim alone
-Don’t swim while intoxicated.
-Use US Coast Guard approved life jackets.

Gracie has declined our offer and opted to return to Cedar Hollow Ranch. We are disappointed that she will not be joining District 7 as an Engineer, but we wish her continued success in her future endeavors.

Today, District 7 Firefighters were testing for open Engineer positions. Best of luck to each of the candidates who applied and put their skills to the test.

We also had one outside candidate participate in the process today. As you can see, he may have had a slight height advantage. 🦒🚒
