Bexar-Bulverde Fire Department

Bexar-Bulverde Fire Department Bexar-Bulverde FD is a combination fire department located within Bexar County ESD #3. Our training facility and burn house are at this location.

Bexar-Bulverde VFD is located within Bexar County ESD #3, the northern most unincorporated area of Bexar County. Our response area is approximately 47 square miles of northern Bexar County with over 62,000 residents and $8.5 billion in property assets. We border Camp Bullis on the west side, Comal County on the north side, and the City of San Antonio on the south and east sides. The department was

incorporated over fifty years ago on December 12, 1966, by a few residents who recognized the need for fire services to protect their homes and families. Operations soon moved to a small building on Borgfeld Road and that location still operates today, though greatly expanded, as Station 103. In 2007, a second station, 104, opened on Bulverde Road near Johnson High School. In 2019, Station 105, a third station and an administration building, opened on Canyon Golf Road. Our fourth station, Station 106 located on E. Evans Road, was completed in February of this year. We operate as a combination fire department, comprised of full-time and volunteer firefighters. As of today, we have 68 full-time employees including our support staff. Our current fleet consists of 3 Engines (with a 4th on order), 2 Ladder Trucks, 3 EMS Squads, 4 Brush Trucks, 2 Water Tenders, 1 Mini Pumper, 1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Polaris with Firefighting Skid, and a handful of staff vehicles. In 2020, we were awarded the prestigious ISO Fire Protection Class One (ISO 1) rating. That puts us in the top half of one percent of fire departments nationwide
