It takes a community to deliver More Than A Meal! 💪🏘️

Before a meal ever reaches a client's doorstep, there are many people who help make it possible. And we’re so grateful for the helping hands of individual volunteers and companies like The Home Depot, Susser Bank, and Valero Vanguard, who help assemble shelf-stable boxes and multipack meals to ensure our homebound neighbors have access to the nourishment they need. 🍽️ 💙

💙🧡 Our SAWS Affordability team presented our program’s mission and history to Meals on Wheels San Antonio 🚙. To help us reach more customers who are elderly or on fixed incomes, the organization has agreed to distribute 3,300 informational flyers to their clients on SAWS’ behalf. Thank you to Meals on Wheels for their partnership & commitment to Uplift’s mission of assisting our neighbors in need to ensure reliable water service. 💙

At Meals on Wheels San Antonio, we appreciate the dedication of team members like Damon Esquivel, a CNA at our Grace Place Alzheimer’s Center, who has been helping us deliver More Than A Meal for over a year and truly embodies our mission! 💙

At Grace Place, Damon helps create a welcoming and engaging environment for individuals living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. He shared that he gives back because he believes it's important to support not only the place you work, but also the mission behind it. Knowing that he's helping address important needs through both Meals on Wheels and Grace Place is what he enjoys most about his work. 💜

Family is at the heart of many of the things Damon values most. One of his favorite trips was visiting family in England, and if he could have an unlimited supply of one thing, it would be health and time with loved ones. When he's not at Grace Place, he enjoys spending time on the golf course. And if he had to choose just one meal to eat for the rest of his life, he'd happily go with a good enchilada plate, though a breakfast of biscuits and gravy is hard to beat.

We're grateful to share that Meals on Wheels San Antonio has been awarded $600,000 from the Texas Veterans Commission to support veterans and their families across Bexar County and South Central Texas! 💙

This funding will help support both our Home-Delivered Meals and Comfy Casas programs, providing nutritious meals and home safety improvements that help individuals remain independent in the place they call home. 🏡

Thank you to the Texas Veterans Commission for their continued partnership and for helping us continue to deliver to those who have served our nation. 🇺🇸

As students get ready to head back to school, several meal delivery routes are expected to need volunteer coverage next week. 🚙🍽️

‼️While we need volunteers every weekday, our greatest need right now is on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday‼️

With routes available across San Antonio, there's a good chance we could use your help in a neighborhood near you. Just one lunch hour can provide a nutritious meal, a wellness check, and a friendly face for a homebound neighbor. 💙
