The City continues hosting outreach events to connect individuals experiencing homelessness with a variety of services and resources – including support for their furry companions!

Pets are an important part of many people’s lives, which is why we’re grateful to community partners Project Street Vet, Spay Neuter Action Program and A New Life Rescue for joining us in providing critical pet services. Last week’s event was held in the Midway District.

Through these outreach events, individuals experiencing homelessness have direct access to important resources for both them and their pets all in one place.

Tens of thousands of San Diegans, including seniors, families, veterans, youth and other vulnerable community members, felt the impact of federal funding this past fiscal year, which ended June 30.

A new City draft report details how $48.8 million in U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds supported neighborhoods, small businesses, affordable housing and essential services.

Key impacts include:
•63,867 individuals received essential services.
•386 households gained housing support, including rapid rehousing and new or rehabilitated rental units.
•27 homeowners received financial assistance.
•453 people assisted with overnight shelter, and 84 people experiencing or at risk of homelessness assisted with supportive services.
•363 businesses assisted with loans, training and technical help.
•One community facility project was completed, and seven City infrastructure projects were completed.

San Diego customers may see changes to their water bill beginning in 2027.

To comply with a court ruling, San Diego is required to transition from a tiered water rate structure to a unitary rate structure. That would mean all water use will be billed at the same rate, regardless of total use.

City crews are lowering speed limits and bringing new back-to-school safety measures to schools in the communities of Skyline and Paradise Hills, including Bell Middle School and Boone Elementary. The City of San Diego is prioritizing lowering speed limits and installing new signs this year in school zone corridors as part of implementing the Comprehensive Speed Management Plan. 🚸

The Comprehensive Speed Management Plan represents a significant step in aligning San Diego's speed limits with Vision Zero safety priorities.

Lower speed limits are one component of the City's broader Vision Zero strategy. The City will continue installing updated signs in phases while monitoring results and engaging the public to ensure speed reductions improve driver behavior and safety.

City Stormwater crews and our partners at Urban Corps are hard at work in Skyline, clearing channels and protecting neighborhoods ahead of storm season.

The channel maintenance team works six days a week, 12 hours a day. The team has maintained nearly 8 miles of channels in the last two months.

More homes that San Diegans can afford are in the future, thanks to Mayor Todd Gloria’s Bridge to Home program!

The City is making $15 million in housing-specific funds available to build more affordable homes across our neighborhoods.

Since 2021, Bridge to Home has helped move nearly 3,000 affordable homes forward, and this new round of funding keeps that momentum going. These homes support seniors, families, educators and those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

We’re proud to continue strengthening communities and expanding housing opportunities for everyone. 🏡

The City of San Diego is making $15 million available to help build more affordable homes through the eighth round of Mayor Todd Gloria’s Bridge to Home program. Since Mayor Gloria launched Bridge to Home in 2021, the program has helped advance 2,969 affordable homes across 30 projects.
