Read this article to understand the depth of neglect that HUD communities like Alice Griffith live with due to a lack of accountability from John Stewart (the property manager) and MBS (the developer). This repeated pattern of neglect must stop. Residents have had enough and are demanding for immediate oversight enforcement. Residents have a right to safe, healthy and dignified homes.

As we see in the public housing developments in our city, property owners and governing bodies have a critical obligation to provide oversight, enforce accountability, and ensure resources are being used to maintain safe and habitable homes for residents.

While Domus Management is responsible for the day-to-day management of the public housing developments mentioned in this article, the Martin Luther King–Marcus Garvey Square Cooperative Board (the governing body overseeing the MLK–MG Square Cooperative Apartments) and Bethel AME Church (the owner of Thomas Paine Apartments) share full responsibility - both operationally and fiscally - for ensuring residents receive safe, dignified housing and that their management company is held accountable.

Taken together, these issues underscore the urgent need for stronger oversight, transparency, and accountability to protect HUD residents across San Francisco.

Meet Justin, he has been volunteering as a counselor with HRCSF for 3 years!

Justin enjoys the community amongst the HRCSF counselors and being able to do what he can towards the issue of housing insecurity, which touches almost everyone in the city in some way. He wishes for rent control and lower rents for all in SF!

AB 736, the bill that would have slashed Prop I by 80% of necessary resources for affordable housing, rent relief and tenant protects, is dead. We called, mobilized and up in Sacramento last Thursday and it was never even heard.

But the deal cut this week puts ACA 22 on the November ballot: a supermajority requirement that would make it nearly impossible to ever pass another Prop I or Measure ULA.

In SF, the fight is about making sure Prop I money goes where voters intended, social housing, tenant stabilization, and repairs in subsidized buildings that have been neglected for years. The SF Homes Guarantee Act does that.

The Real Estate industry will keep trying to keep squeezing tenants and hoarding our resources, but we can get them back! Down with ACA22, Up with the SF Homes Guarantee! The work continues until November!
