Congratulations to Antioch and Chichibu on their upcoming 60th sister city anniversary! 🎊🤝

Deputy Consul General Ishihara attended the welcome dinner in Antioch for this year’s Chichibu delegation, led by Mayor Kazuhiko Kiyono and was honored to present the Consul General’s Commendation to three recipients: founding ACSCO board member Sally Massey, former mayor and ACSCO president Jim Davis, and the City of Antioch.

Earlier that day, Consul General Kotaro Otsuki received a courtesy visit and was able to give a preview of the City of Anitoch’s commendation to Mayor Bernal, and Chichibu city officials.

🏮Living Traditions at SF Obon🏮
Consul General Otsuki joined the fun and dancing at the 95th San Francisco Bon Odori at the Buddhist Church of San Francisco. This year’s event featured 19 different songs and dances ranging from historic Japanese folk numbers to modern Japanese American contributions. Many were accompanied by live music from Ensohza Minyoshu and Jiten Daiko. Thank you to BCSF for welcoming us!

This week, Acting Consul General Ishihara attended the Japan-US Innovation Awards at Stanford University, an event that recognizes outstanding entrepreneurship from Japan and the US.

This year, Anthropic (US) and Sakana.AI (Japan), received the Emerging Leader Awards for their groundbreaking advances in the field. The Innovation Showcase featured five Japanese startup companies (HACARUS, I Peace, KORTUC, Ookuma Diamond Device, and Pale Blue) that are developing solutions in biotech, deep tech, semiconductor development, and space tech.

Thanks to the Japan Society of Northern California (JSNC) and Stanford’s US-Asia Technology Management Center for this wonderful partnership!

Acting Consul General Ishihara joined Mayor Matt Mahan, Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga , Councilmember Ellen Kamei, and hundreds of others for the first day of San Jose Obon in SJ Japantown. In his remarks, ACG Ishihara expressed admiration for the festival’s efforts to share Japanese culture. Thank you so much to the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin for including us in your celebration!
