Last week, my office presented a proclamation declaring September 11 as 9/11 Remembrance and National First Responders’ Day.

This day is not only an important part of our nation’s history, but also a time to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and recognize the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call that day and those who continue to serve our communities every day.

Thank you to Los Bomberos of Northern California, San José Fire Station 1, and Fire Station 8 for joining us to receive this proclamation and for your continued dedication to keeping our community safe. We are grateful for all that you do.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001. A day that forever changed our nation. We remember the lives lost and honor the courage of the first responders who answered the call and put the lives of others before their own.

As a retired Fire Captain, I am honored to sponsor the lighting of the City Tower and Rotunda in blue in remembrance of 9/11. The color blue represents the clear sky over New York City on the morning of September 11, 2001, serving as a symbol of remembrance, reflection, peace, and honoring the lives lost.

We remember the heroes, their families, and all those whose lives were changed that day. We will never forget. 🇺🇸💙

I strongly and unequivocally support the San Jose Police Department and its mission to protect our residents, prevent crime, and keep our neighborhoods safe. Public safety must remain a top priority. We must provide our officers with the resources, staffing, training, and support they need to respond effectively, protect our community, and maintain the trust of the people they serve.
A safe San Jose is the foundation of a strong and thriving city, and I will continue to stand firmly with our police officers and support efforts that make our community safer for everyone.

Hi everyone! This morning, I stopped by Voices Academy to help bring some greenery to the campus. It was amazing to see the school come together, secure donations, and create a more beautiful and welcoming space for their students. 💚 🪴 💚

Teaching kids at a young age about taking pride in their school and community is so important. These little changes can make a big impact, and it’s great to see our kids learning, growing, and watching their campus grow right along with them!

🚒🔥 The San José Fire Department celebrated the push in ceremony for its new Engine 20D, a state of the art Oshkosh Striker Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) apparatus serving San José Mineta International Airport and the surrounding North San José community. This $2.2 million investment brings advanced firefighting technology, enhanced mobility, and high volume water and foam delivery capabilities designed to strengthen emergency response at SJC. ✈️🚒

Station 20 provides specialized ARFF services for the airport while also protecting the surrounding community. Congratulations to A Shift, led by Captain Joseph Zavatere, and everyone who helped bring Engine 20D into service. Here’s to many years of protecting lives, property, and our community! 👨‍🚒❤️
