Why hello there, humans! I’m Pablo! I’m a 7-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality and an even bigger heart. I came to Woods as a transfer after being found as a stray, and now I’m ready to find my home!

I may be a sweet senior, but don’t let my age fool you, I’ve still got plenty of pep in my step! When I’m not cuddling up with my favorite people, you can find me running around, playing fetch, or singing my little heart out.

If you’re looking for a companion who’s past the puppy chaos but still ready for adventures, I just might be your perfect match.

Hello, out there! I'm Donny, a 5 month old shepherd who's ready and EXCITED to be your friend! ❤️

I came to Woods from another shelter in the valley, ready to make all the friends I can here in SLO. I'm still young and learning, but that doesn't slow me down! I've been a bit nervous being on leash, but with time and some yummy treats, I'm sure I'll get it down in no time. I can't wait to learn and explore with my family!

MEET OUR PET OF THE WEEK, LILLIE!💜

Hi, I’m Lillie! I’m a 1-year-old Weimaraner mix who loves toys, getting attention, and snuggling with my people. I can be a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly once I feel safe and loved.

I previously lived in a home, so I’m house trained and familiar with family life. I’ve also met other dogs, and cats and can do well with them with a proper introduction.

My medical team noticed an abnormal gait and decreased muscle in my hind legs when I arrived. X-rays showed hip dysplasia in both of my hips. My left hip was more severely affected, so I underwent a femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHO) in early July. This surgery removed the abnormal portion of my hip joint and allows my muscles and tissues to form a comfortable, functional “false joint.”

I’ve recovered well and am continuing to build my strength and mobility! My future family will need to continue my physical therapy exercises at home for another 4–6 weeks to help maintain my range of motion, rebuild the muscles supporting my hip, and give me the best long-term outcome. Our medical team will teach my adopter how to do them! Once I’ve fully recovered, my other hip will be reassessed to determine if any additional treatment is needed.

The best news? My adoption fee has been sponsored! So, I am ready to find a loving home who will give me the care, patience, and love I deserve. Come meet me at Woods Humane Society in SLO, any day from 12–4 p.m.!✨🐶

Hi, I’m Lou. I’m a one-year-old kitty who has been at Woods Humane Society in Atascadero for about a month now, and I’m hoping someone will see me and give me a chance.✨

I’m a super shy and gentle guy, and right now, I’m feeling a little unsure about my surroundings. I’d do best with someone who understands that I need a little time to feel comfortable. A nice, friendly cat to show me the ropes could also help me come out of my shell.

Once I settle in, my curious side will start to shine. I just need someone willing to take things slow and let me become the sweet companion I know I can be.

Hi, I’m Arlo! I’m a 7-year-old Shih Tzu who recently got a much-needed haircut, and I’m feeling pretty fresh! 😍🫧

I’m a nervous guy, so I need slow, gentle movements and some patience while I get comfortable. I’m working with the trainers at Woods to build my confidence and learn that new experiences can be a good thing.

Once I warm up, I’m a playful guy who loves running around, playing tug of war, and curling up on a lap for head pats and scratches.
