Busy weekend on the South Coast!
First, Coquille Riverdays Parade! So many fantastic entries in the parade this year.
After the parade, it was down Seven Devils to Charleston to meet up with Richard and others for the Grand Opening of OCATEC (Oregon Coast Arts & Trade Education Collective) in Charleston. I appreciate our educational and trade sector opportunities, and have been supporting this project and its partnerships with AYA and others since its conception. Working with former Senator Heard in 2021, we were able to allocate $150 thousand dollars for their initial base funding to help propel them forward. I look forward to our continued work and support for educational opportunities for all ages! See the link below for more information.
Then it was back to Coquille Riverdays to visit and talk with residents, vendors and volunteers. Ending with an incredible fireworks show! Huge thank you to the Fire Department, and all of the organizers and volunteers for another excellent Coquille Riverdays!

For many Oregon Republicans, Bob Packwood was not only a United States Senator but a mentor and a force within the Dorchester tradition of civic engagement and leadership development. He challenged people to think bigger about public service and to engage in the difficult work of governing.
It was a pleasure to sit and speak with him last November at an event honoring him with 60 years of Dorchester, as there is no question that he helped shape modern Oregon politics.
My prayers are with his family and all who knew him during this time of loss.
