🧱 DOWNTOWN BRICK REPAIRS: PHASE 2 STARTING TOMORROW! 🚧

Crews from Ovation Construction will begin brick road repairs along N. Park Avenue between 1st Street and Commercial Street on the east side.

🗓 Dates: Wednesday, Sept 30 – Friday, Oct 2
📍 Impact Area: East side of N. Park Ave (1st St. to Commercial St.)

Expect localized lane/parking impacts and minor traffic shifts while contractor teams work to restore these historic brick streets. Local businesses remain open and accessible! Thank you for your patience as we make these much-needed roadway improvements. 🚗✨

Sanford, it’s time to get creative! Our amazing Parks and Recreation team has been hard at work crafting this year’s Halloween holiday-themed hay art display. You might recognize the inspiration behind this mischievous character... but we want YOU to give it an official name!

This year’s masterpiece was cleverly created by Billie Jean Puleo and Eric Griffin from our Parks & Rec Department! 👏👏

Help Shape the Future of Public Art in Sanford!

The City of Sanford is seeking 2 volunteers to serve on the Public Art Commission.

This is a volunteer position, with each commissioner appointed by the Sanford City Commission.
We’re looking for individuals with professional, educational, or substantial practical experience in the arts or a related field—not simply an interest in art.

Ideal candidates should have knowledge or experience in areas such as:

🎭- Multiple art media and artistic disciplines
🖌️ -Artistic quality and craftsmanship
📐 Size, scale, and site placement
🧱 -Materials, durability, installation, and safety
🔧- Public art maintenance and conservation
🤝- Arts education, community engagement, planning, partnerships, or funding
Commissioners should also be able to look beyond personal artistic preferences and objectively evaluate quality across traditional, contemporary, and diverse forms of public art.

📅Public Art Commission Meetings: Fourth Tuesday of each month

Attention downtown Sanford business owners! All sidewalk use permits for outdoor dining, planters, A-frame signs, and merchandise displays will expire on October 1st.

Whether you need to renew your existing permit or are applying for the very first time, make sure your business stays compliant before the deadline!
