🎒🚌 Back to School Safety: School Buses Return Monday! 🛑📚

It’s hard to believe summer flew by and school starts this Monday, August 10th!

As our kids head back to the classroom, our friends over at the Sanford Police Department shared this important reminder to help keep our students, drivers, and neighborhoods safe.

🛑 Quick Safety Reminders for Drivers:

Stop for Red Lights: Always stop when a school bus extends its stop arm and flashes red lights—it is the law!

Slow Down in School Zones: Watch your speed and stay extra alert near crosswalks, bus stops, and school grounds.

Put Down the Distractions: Keep eyes on the road and hands on the wheel—put away mobile devices while driving.

Plan Extra Time: Expect heavier traffic during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.

Let’s work together to make this a safe and wonderful school year for all Sanford students, teachers, and families! 💙✨

The City of Sanford wants to join the Sanford Police Department in taking a moment to honor retired K9 Edo. Rest easy, Edo and thank you for your years serving our city.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of retired Sanford Police K9 Edo.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of retired K9 Edo. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life defined by loyalty, courage, and unwavering service.

K9 Edo retired from the Sanford Police Department on October 29, 2018, after five years of dedicated service to our community. Throughout his career, he played a vital role in recovering illegal narcotics, assisting in apprehensions, conducting drug sniffs, participating in public demonstrations, and responding to countless deployments. His work helped make Sanford a safer place, and his impact will never be forgotten.

After retirement, K9 Edo traded patrols for peaceful days at home, enjoying sunbathing and spending time with the family who loved him.

K9 Edo was more than a police K9. He was family, a trusted partner, and a loyal friend.

Thank you for your service, K9 Edo. Rest easy, hero!
