Ready to take on the 2026 Hiking Challenge? 🥾

Explore Elsmere Canyon Open Space and discover La Puerta, a California Point of Historical Interest that once served as an important passage into the Santa Clarita Valley.

Complete all four eligible trails by December 31:

• Elsmere Canyon Loop Trail – 3.1 miles
• Eagles Dare – 0.8 miles
• Creek Trail – 1.9 miles
• Remsen Road Trail – 0.7 miles

📍 Access Elsmere Canyon from Whitney Canyon Park, 20303 Newhall Avenue.

Participation is free, and the first 50 participants to complete the challenge will receive a custom Elsmere Canyon shirt.

Vista Canyon Bridge Ribbon Cutting | City of Santa Clarita

A new connection for Santa Clarita! 🌉

The City of Santa Clarita celebrated the completion of the Vista Canyon Bridge, a new 780-foot bridge spanning the Santa Clara River and connecting Soledad Canyon Road to Mitchell Drive.

Designed with motorists, pedestrians and cyclists in mind, the bridge features a shared-use sidewalk, dedicated bike lane, improved access to the Vista Canyon Multimodal Transit Center and an additional emergency access and evacuation route.

This milestone enhances mobility, improves public safety and strengthens connections throughout Santa Clarita.

75% of overdose deaths among youth ages 10 to 19 involved fentanyl from 2020 to 2024, according to the CDC.

Behind that statistic are families whose lives have been forever changed.

Through the City of Santa Clarita’s Parenting for Prevention program, local parents are sharing their experiences, the warning signs they wish they had known and the lessons they want other families to hear.

This year, Parenting for Prevention will include:

“A Parent’s Story” – A short video series featuring local parents sharing personal experiences with fentanyl, loss and the conversations they want other families to have.

Drug Emojis – Educational content helping parents recognize emojis, slang and digital language that may be connected to drugs.

Parent Meetings – Opportunities to connect with experts, ask questions and learn more about prevention, intervention, treatment and available resources.

Parents do not need to have all the answers. Learning the signs, asking questions and starting a conversation can make a difference.

Start the conversation. It could save a life.

🚧 PICKLEBALL COURT CLOSURE

Beginning Monday, October 5, the pickleball courts and parking lot at Bouquet Park will be temporarily closed for approximately three weeks while crews complete resurfacing improvements.

We know these courts are a popular gathering place for our pickleball community and appreciate your patience during this temporary closure.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve the courts and parking area for the community.

AVENUE OFF-RAMP INTERMITTENT CLOSURE
 
The southbound I-14 off-ramp at Newhall Avenue will be closed from 7:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. Monday, September 28 as construction continues on the Newhall Gateway Beautification Project.
 
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra time for travel and follow posted signage in the area. Thank you for your patience and understanding as this project continues to improve the Newhall gateway into our community.
