Need a little help making sure your child’s car seat is installed correctly? Join us for an upcoming Car Seat Check Event in Sartell!

Certified car seat technicians will be available to work one-on-one with parents and caregivers to check car seat installation, answer questions, and help you feel confident that your child is riding safely.

🚌 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY: KNOW WHAT THE LIGHTS MEAN

Back-to-school season is here! As students begin returning to school next week, different grades will start on different days throughout the week. That means each day will bring more buses, more students at bus stops, and busier morning and afternoon traffic.

Now is a great time to refresh yourself on what those flashing school bus lights mean:

🟡 Yellow flashing lights = SLOW DOWN.
The bus is preparing to stop. Be alert, reduce your speed, and prepare to stop.

🔴 Red flashing lights = STOP.
Drivers must stop at least 20 feet from the bus and remain stopped while the red lights are flashing.

As school routines pick back up, give yourself a little extra time, stay alert around bus stops, and watch for students who may be crossing the road.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Alex Svejkovsky 🌟

This week, we’re highlighting Alex Svejkovsky, a Public Safety Specialist!

Alex has worked in the profession for three years. After spending 10 years working in radio, he was ready for a new career path that would allow him to spend more time with his family.

One of Alex’s favorite parts of his job is getting the opportunity to talk with residents and hear their stories, especially those about growing up in Sartell. For him, the most rewarding part of serving the community is knowing he has made a difference by helping residents find answers to their questions and concerns.

When he’s not at work, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristy, and their three kids. You’ll also find him playing sports, coaching, or cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves.

Thank you, Alex, for everything you do behind the scenes and for the friendly, helpful service you provide to our residents every day at the front counter!

🌟EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: DANIEL BIALKE🌟

This week, we’re proud to recognize Daniel Bialke, a Fire Fighter with the Sartell Fire Division who has been serving our community for the past four years.

For Daniel, becoming a firefighter carries a deeply personal meaning. His brother lost his life in the line of duty, inspiring Daniel to follow in his footsteps and continue a legacy of service to his community.

One of the things Daniel enjoys most about being a firefighter is being pushed to continually learn new things. For him, the most rewarding part of the job is having the opportunity to give back and be there for community members during their times of need.

One moment that has especially stayed with Daniel happened after a house fire, when he was able to find the homeowner’s dog alive beneath the rubble—a memorable reminder of the difference firefighters can make even in the most difficult circumstances.

Outside of the fire department, Daniel enjoys spending time with his wife, Amanda, and their four children, Makenna, Kyler, Korra, and Nolan, along with their two dogs and cat. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors.

Daniel sums up what serving with the Sartell Fire Department means to him best: “I feel honored to serve this community and its people on both the good days and the bad days.”

🎬 Reminder! PAL Movie in the Park is Tomorrow!

Join the Sartell Police Division tomorrow evening for our final Police Activities League (PAL) event of the summer!

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and the whole family to Val Smith Park for a fun evening under the stars. This free event is open to kids ages 5–15 and is a great opportunity to connect with Sartell Police Officers outside of emergency situations while enjoying a movie with family and friends.

Please be advised that Pinecone Road Between 1st St N and 1st St S, near City Hall, is currently closed due to a downed tree that struck power lines which are currently across all lanes of traffic. Please find an alternate route as crews work to safely remove the power lines.

Bow Hunting Permits Now Available

With bow hunting season almost upon us, the City of Sartell would like to remind residents that bow hunting is now permitted within city limits on qualifying private property with an approved City permit.

Bow hunting is limited to private property with at least 5 contiguous acres and is not allowed on City-owned property, parks, trails, school property, commercial properties, or high-density residential properties.

To help ensure the safety of residents and surrounding properties, hunters must follow all required setbacks, Minnesota DNR hunting regulations, obtain landowner permission when hunting on property they do not own, and successfully obtain a city bow hunting permit before hunting within city limits. All permit applications will be reviewed and approved by the Sartell Police Division.

🌟Employee Spotlight: Officer Rob Lyon🌟

This week, we're proud to recognize Officer Rob Lyon, who has served the Sartell Police for 20 years and has spent 23 years in law enforcement. In addition to his role as a Patrol Officer and School Resource Officer, Rob also serves the community as a firefighter with the Sartell Fire Division.

Rob chose a career in public safety because he wanted to give back to the community and make a positive difference in people's lives. Today, what he enjoys most is building relationships with students and community members, helping guide young people, and watching them grow and succeed. One of the most rewarding parts of his job is hearing from former students who still reach out to check in—a testament to the lasting impact he has made.

Family and service go hand in hand for Rob. He takes great pride in serving alongside his older brother on Sartell Fire. He also takes pride in seeing the next generation of his family continue a career in public safety. His nephew serves as an officer with the St. Joseph Police Department, and the similarity in their badge numbers is a special reminder of the bond they share through service.

When he's not serving the community, Rob enjoys spending time with his wife, his two children, and his stepdaughter. He also enjoys being outdoors, riding his side-by-side, tackling projects around the house, and bow hunting. He especially appreciates the peace and quiet of the woods and the anticipation of what each hunt might bring.

Rob would also like to thank his family and friends for their unwavering support over the years. Public safety often means working holidays, missing special occasions, and responding to calls at all hours of the night. Their understanding and encouragement have made it possible for him to continue serving the community he loves.

Thank you, Rob, for your dedication to the Sartell community and for the positive impact you make every day. We are grateful to have you on our team!

WOW... what an incredible National Night Out! 💙🚓🚒

What an amazing evening! From neighborhood gatherings across Sartell to all the fun at the Sartell Community Center, it was wonderful to see so many families, friends, and neighbors coming together.
