🌟 Brooke Newman, Volunteer Extraordinaire!

Talk about seeing a need and jumping right in! When Brooke spotted this HUGE fallen branch, she didn’t just walk by. She grabbed a saw, chopped it up, and hauled it away! 💪🪚🌳

We are so thankful for volunteers like Brooke who are always willing to roll up their sleeves and help wherever they’re needed. That’s what we call going above and beyond! 💙🤍

🎓 May Howard Alumni Spotlight: Levi Snyder 💙💛

There is something extra special about watching our former Hawks grow up, discover their passions, and begin making their mark on the world!

Today, we are proud to spotlight Levi Snyder, a former May Howard Hawk and 2025 graduate of Islands High School. Levi is currently attending Georgia Southern University, where he is double majoring in Chinese and Spanish and minoring in Arabic. Three languages…we are impressed, Levi!

Levi shares that he currently volunteers as needed as a paramedic with the Chatham Fire Department. Looking toward the future, he hopes to combine his love of languages with his desire to serve others. He is considering a career with SCCPSS or working with the Chatham Fire Department as a full-time interpreter/paramedic.

We love seeing our Hawks spread their wings, follow their passions, and find ways to use their talents to serve their community. We are so proud of you, Levi, and we can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next!

Hawks, it’s time to represent your favorite college or university! Friday, September 4 is National College Colors Day at May Howard!

Wear your favorite college colors, T-shirt, jersey, and/or hat and show us which team you cheer for! ❤️💙💜🧡💛

Whether you yell Go Dawgs, Go Tigers, Go Jackets, Go Eagles or something else entirely, we can’t wait to see our Hawks showing their college spirit! 🦅

Normal $1 dress-down day guidelines apply.

🍎 September is almost here, Hawks! 🍎

There’s lots happening at May Howard Elementary this month! Be sure to save our September Parent Calendar so you don’t miss any of the fun.

A few things to look forward to include Student Council, Book Fair Week, PTA & STREAM Night, School Spirit Day, gifted testing, and more!

📅 A few important dates:
• September 7: No School – Labor Day
• September 14–18: Book Fair
• September 17: PTA & STREAM Night at 5:30 PM
• September 20: PTA Savannah Bananas Game
• September 25: School Spirit Day

🦅 We are SO proud of our August High Flying Hawks! 💙💛

These amazing Hawks were recognized for showing our August character trait of Citizenship! They show us what it means to be a great citizen by doing the right thing, helping others, being responsible, and making our school a better place each day.

Citizenship goes right along with our Leader in Me Habit #1: Be Proactive. These Hawks take initiative, make good choices, and understand that they are in charge of their own actions and attitudes!

Way to lead by example, Hawks! Keep flying high! 🦅

Let Me Run Team 🏃‍♂️

Calling all 3rd–5th-grade boys! We are excited to start our Let Me Run Team this fall! 🎉

📅 Start Date: September 8
📆 Practices: Tuesdays & Thursdays
⏰ Time:4:15–5:45 PM
🏁 5K Race: November 7

Let Me Run is more than just running! It helps boys build confidence, character, teamwork, and healthy relationships, while working toward the goal of completing a 5K together.

We can't wait to see our boys challenge themselves, support one another, and become stronger runners and leaders! 💙🏃‍♂️
