📚 BOOK OF THE WEEK #1 📚

A Civil Action by Jonathan Harr

The Hart Free Library is excited to launch its Book of the Week Challenge with one of the most acclaimed works of legal nonfiction ever written.

Based on a true story, A Civil Action follows ordinary citizens as they seek answers after concerns arise about environmental contamination in their community. It’s a powerful story about perseverance, public involvement, and the importance of asking difficult questions.

This book was selected because many people throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania are currently dedicating countless volunteer hours to learning about and discussing the proposed data centers in our region. This book serves as a timely reminder of the important role informed and engaged citizens play in shaping their communities.
