🚨 **Fire Prevention Week is Here, Seguin!** 🚨
This week, the Seguin Fire Department is teaming up with our community to focus on keeping our homes, families, and workplaces fire-safe.
Lithium-ion batteries power everything from our smartphones and laptops to power tools, e-bikes, and tablets. When used and charged improperly, these batteries can overheat and pose serious fire hazards.
Check out our video below where our team breaks down the essential dos and don'ts of **safe battery charging**:
* **Use certified equipment:** Always stick with the manufacturer-approved charging cords and power blocks designed specifically for your device.
* **Charge on hard, flat surfaces:** Avoid charging phones, tablets, or laptops on beds, couches, or under pillows where heat gets trapped.
* **Don't overcharge:** Unplug devices or chargers once they reach a full charge, and avoid leaving high-draw devices charging unattended overnight.
* **Inspect for damage:** If a battery looks swollen, feels excessively hot, or emits an odor, stop using it immediately and dispose of it safely.
