On Monday, May 18, 2026, Grove School hosted its annual Agriculture Day for 1st-3rd students. Throughout the day, students participated in hands-on learning experiences led by community members and agriculture professionals.
Students rotated through engaging stations where they learned how to make butter, plant vegetable seeds, care for animals in veterinary medicine, and explore meteorology with lessons about rain and tornadoes. Additional activities included accurate agriculture book studies and โAg in a Bagโ lessons provided by Oklahoma Farm Bureau. Students also learned about animal nutrition, horse care and farrier responsibilities, tractor operation, and how equipment is used to make round hay bales. They even discovered how ranchers brand cattle and enjoyed participating in a fun stick horse barrel race. Students also showcased their creativity in a tractor coloring contest sponsored by P&K Equipment.
This farm-filled day of learning was made possible through a 2023 Shawnee Educational Foundation grant and the support of Grove teachers and staff, Grove School PTO and parent volunteers, Indaco Metals, Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom, and the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Womenโs Leadership Committee of Pottawatomie County.
Thank you to everyone who helped provide our students with meaningful, real-world agricultural experiences and helped connect classroom learning to Oklahoma agriculture.
