On June 30, 2026, the Diné Uranium Remediation Advisory Commission hosted the Northern Abandoned Uranium Mines (AUM) Region meeting in Cove, Arizona. The meeting featured updates on uranium mine cleanup efforts and advocacy for expanding RECA Act provisions for Navajo Nation residents. Members of the 25th Navajo Nation Council attended, and the Navajo Uranium Workers Program was on site to provide assistance and resources for uranium miners, downwinders, and others affected by radiation exposure.

On May 30, 2026, the Navajo Uranium Workers Program (NUWP) attended the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency (NNEPA) presentation on the LMMD Regional EE/CA Cleanup Alternative for the Mesa I Complex.

NUWP provided free assistance to individuals affected by radiation exposure and shared information about the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) and the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) at our information booth.

On April 28, 2026, the Navajo Uranium Workers Program (NUWP) attended the Dine Uranium Remediation Advisory Committee meeting at the Church Rock Chapter House in Church Rock, NM, where staff provided updates on the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) and the Department of Labor’s Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). NUWP shared an overview of eligibility and the claims process, including required documents and how to apply, while offering guidance to help individuals and families navigate these programs. Community members asked questions about compensation, documentation, and application challenges, and NUWP provided support and resources, reaffirming its commitment to assisting Navajo uranium workers and their families.
