Want to see the Richland County 4-H horse and livestock shows without the heat? Scan the QR code for the livestream. Horse show starts at 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning and the livestock shows start at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

A quick reminder of the program coming up Thursday night!

Due to the weather forecast for Saturday, the horse show that was scheduled to start at 8 a.m. at the saddle club arena will now be starting at 6:30 a.m. Hopefully they can get most of the show in before it gets too hot!

This weekend is going to be a hot one! The heat index, which combines air temperature and humidity to reflect the “feels-like” temperature, is expected to reach dangerous levels, increasing the risk of heat stress in cattle.

Heat stress can reduce weight gain, impact reproduction, and affect your cattle’s overall health and performance. Be sure to take a few extra precautions to help keep your cattle as comfortable as possible during these dangerously hot conditions.

Here is a quick summary of some ways to help manage heat stress in your herd.
