We are not sure when this photo was taken, but we know it's from the WW1 era and that these women were part of Ensign-Bickford’s early days here in Simsbury. Long before job titles and records were carefully kept, women were doing important, hands-on work that helped build the company and support their families.

Their names have been lost to time, but their presence has not. If this photo looks familiar or sparks a family story, we would love to hear it.

Tagging the Simsbury Free Library and the Simsbury Historical Society to help us uncover and honor a small piece of local history.

MLK in CT Committee members Gus Pastor and Max Stolov gave a group of Loomis Chaffee staff and students a tour of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial outside of the library. They gave a presentation on the history of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Simsbury, and how his time spent here helped shape his hope for the future.

The highlight of the day was hearing from speaker Debbie Hutchinson. Debbie spoke of the history and importance of migrant workers, both international and interstate, in Connecticut’s to***co industry. Her lecture was extremely moving and educational; it was an honor to host her.
