A special thank you to the Slatington Lions Club for organizing this fantastic event, and to the Slatington S***t Club for generously allowing us to use their grounds.

We couldn't have done it without all of the volunteers, organizations, and community members who made the night a success. Thanks again, and we hope to see everyone again next year!

Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸

As we celebrate Independence Day and our nation's 250th birthday, we hope everyone enjoys a fun, relaxing, and safe holiday with family and friends.

As you celebrate this weekend, please be mindful of your neighbors; especially veterans, young children, and pets who may be more sensitive to fireworks.

If you're heading out, drive safely, celebrate responsibly, and help make this a safe holiday for everyone.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

Today we received several reports of a Black Bear observed walking within the borough of Slatington. The last reported sighting was in the 300 block of 1st Street.

Per The Pennsylvania Game Commission, it is not uncommon to see black bears this time of year.

Mid-June is the high time for bear sightings because breeding season is at it's peak. Yearling males are out searching for new ranges. On average traveling around 14-miles looking for their own territory.

If you happen to see a black bear within the Borough, always face them and back up slowly. Do not make any sudden movements.

In close range, if a bear feels threatened or uncomfortable, they will give you cues if they don't want you there.

If the bear doesn't move on and continues to pay you a visit, it might be drawn to a source of food, which could be garbage, a grill or even pet food.

If you do happen to see a black bear wandering your neighborhood, contact the Slatington Police Department or the Pennsylvania Game Commission once you're in a safe location.
