🚔☀️ CAMP POSTCARD IS UNDERWAY! ☀️🚔

Today marks the first day of Camp POSTCARD, and we are excited to welcome another great group of young campers for a week of learning, friendship, and fun!

Camp POSTCARD (Police Officers Striving To Create and Reinforce Dreams) is a unique youth program that brings law enforcement officers and young people together in a positive environment. Throughout the week, campers participate in team-building activities, outdoor adventures, educational programs, and leadership opportunities designed to build confidence, character, and lasting relationships.

The goal of Camp POSTCARD is simple: to encourage our youth, strengthen connections between law enforcement and the community, and help young people realize their full potential.

We look forward to sharing photos and highlights from the week as campers create memories, learn new skills, and experience all that Camp POSTCARD has to offer.

Please join us in wishing all of our campers and staff a safe, fun, and unforgettable week!

On June 3rd, Sheriff Wainwright attended the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Class Night and had the distinct pleasure of presenting the Edward M. Quinn Memorial Scholarship to Avery Monahan, this year’s scholarship recipient, who received a $750 award.

Please join the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office in congratulating Avery and wishing him the best of luck in his studies. Edward Quinn, a native of Norway and 1976 graduate of Oxford Hills High School, served in the Army and began his career at the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office in 1980. He rose through the ranks and was appointed jail administrator in 2010, retiring as a Captain in May 2017.

The Quinn family presents this scholarship annually to a dedicated student pursuing higher education in criminal justice, forensic science, or related law enforcement fields. Captain Quinn’s family attended the presentation, celebrating his accomplishments and commitment to the community.

🚨 Jury Duty Scam Alert 🚨

We’ve received reports of scammers calling residents and claiming they missed jury duty and now owe money, fines, or face arrest unless they pay immediately.

Let’s save everyone some time: that’s not how jury duty works.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office will not call you demanding payment over the phone, requesting gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or any other form of immediate payment. Courts don’t operate that way either.

If you receive one of these calls:
📞 Hang up.
💳 Do not provide personal or financial information.
🚔 Contact your local law enforcement agency if you have concerns.

Scammers are becoming more convincing and may even spoof phone numbers to make it appear the call is coming from a government agency. Don’t let urgency pressure you into acting.

Remember: If someone calls demanding money right now to avoid arrest, that’s your cue to end the conversation—not empty your wallet.

Please share this post to help protect your friends, family, and neighbors.

Stay vigilant,
Oxford County Sheriff’s Office

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN FOLKS!

Today the Oxford County Sheriff’s And Other Local Police Departments and athletes participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run for a wonderful cause.

The "Torch Run" for Special Olympics refers to the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR). It is the largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for the Special Olympics movement globally, where law enforcement officers and athletes carry the "Flame of Hope" to the opening ceremonies of local, state, and world games.

The mission of the Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship.
