Love spending time by the beautiful South San Francisco shoreline? We do too, and we want to preserve it for all to enjoy in the years to come! SSF is studying ways to protect the shoreline from the impacts of sea level rise, and we want you to hear from you!

The SSF Shoreline Protection and Connection Feasibility Study (Protect and Connect SSF) aims to:

🏡 Protect communities, businesses, infrastructure, and recreational areas
🌊 Improve how people connect to the shoreline and surrounding areas
🚨 Improve emergency access

Tell us about how you use the shoreline, and what’s most important to you. Learn more and share your input on our website: www.ssfca.gov/protectandconnectssf. Also, join us for a “Day on the Bay” on Saturday, August 1st –– a family-friendly community event with activities at the shoreline. Save the date, and stay tuned for more information to come!

The City is aware of the water service interruption affecting portions of downtown. California Water Service is currently repairing two damaged water valves that must be restored before water service can return. Cal Water has informed us that they anticipate completing repairs by this evening, although the timeline has not been guaranteed. They also cautioned us that additional temporary water shutoffs may be necessary as repairs continue. City staff remain in contact with Cal Water and are monitoring progress on behalf of the community. Updates will be shared as additional information becomes available. Congratulations to Alex Henry on his promotion to South San Francisco’s next Public Works Deputy Director.

Alex’s story is a true South City success story. More than 25 years ago, he began his career with the City as a Public Works Maintenance Worker. Through hard work, technical expertise, and a commitment to public service, he advanced through the ranks as a Craftsworker, Facilities Supervisor, and most recently, Public Works Program Manager.

Along the way, Alex helped maintain the infrastructure that residents rely on every day- from streets, sidewalks, and streetlights to traffic signals, stormwater systems, and City facilities.

His promotion reflects more than two decades of experience, institutional knowledge, and dedication to serving the South San Francisco community.

Congratulations, Alex, on this well-deserved achievement. We look forward to seeing your leadership continue to shape the future of South City’s infrastructure and public services.
