We respond anywhere in central Texas for rescue, recovery, salvage, and evidence recovery. The South Hays Fire Department Dive Team (formerly known as San Marcos Area Recovery Team) is a member of Emergency District #3 and a part of South Hays County Fire Department. They provide underwater search and recovery services to Hays County and most of south and central Texas on receipt of a request for

Texas Public Safety Divers (TXPSD) deployed to support recovery operations at two locations impacted by the recent flooding.

Our first assignment took us to JBSA’s Sunnyside Park, where our team located submerged hospitality dock walkways that had been displaced by the floodwaters.

We then responded to Jacobs Creek Marina, assisting with the recovery and reinforcement of damaged marina walkways to help restore the facility.

The destruction at both locations was the result of the lake rising more than 20 feet in approximately 12 hours—a powerful reminder of the force and speed of this historic flood event.

TXPSD remains committed to supporting our communities, public agencies, and private partners as recovery efforts continue across the region.

OP 202608-01 – Canyon Lake Recovery

Texas Public Safety Divers (TXPSD) has been requested to assist Joint Base San Antonio with recovery operations at the installation’s lake recreation area following the catastrophic flooding that impacted the region.

In less than 24 hours, floodwaters rose approximately 30 feet, causing extensive damage to park infrastructure, including floating docks, pedestrian walkways, and support systems.

During OP 202608-01, TXPSD personnel will conduct sonar search operations to locate submerged structural components before transitioning to underwater heavy-lift and recovery operations. The mission includes locating and recovering a submerged pedestrian bridge section, assisting with the reinstallation of floating dock components, and supporting the restoration of critical recreational infrastructure.

These operations require specialized public safety diving techniques, including sonar mapping, underwater rigging, heavy recovery operations, and coordinated teamwork between surface and dive personnel.

TXPSD is honored to support Joint Base San Antonio and appreciates the trust placed in our team. We remain committed to providing professional underwater recovery and disaster response services wherever they are needed across Texas.

Day 2 of Recovery Efforts
TXPSD - Texas Public Safety Divers was honored to once again be welcomed by Center Point Volunteer Fire Department to assist with the continued rehabilitation of their fire station following the latest catastrophic flood.

Today marked our second day working alongside Center Point VFD as firefighters, volunteers, and our team continued cleaning, sorting, and determining what equipment could be salvaged and what had been lost.

Flood recovery doesn’t end when the water goes down. It takes time, teamwork, and a commitment to helping one another. We are proud to stand beside our fellow first responders as they work to restore their station and return to serving their community.

Our team will be back again tomorrow to continue supporting the recovery effort.

TXPSD - Texas Public Safety Divers assisted Center Point Volunteer Fire Department with sorting equipment and determining what could be salvaged after the station was devastated by flooding.

Our team was proud to provide manpower and support as they worked through the difficult process of separating recoverable equipment from items that were lost.

When disaster strikes, TXPSD stands ready to help—on the water, underwater, or wherever additional hands are needed.

Texas Public Safety Divers responded to Center Point, Texas, to assist with cleanup efforts at the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department after floodwaters entered the fire station for the second time. Equipment, work areas, and much of the station were once again underwater.

TXPSD is a nonprofit public safety dive team committed to serving communities throughout Texas. While our primary mission is underwater search and recovery, our service does not stop at the water’s edge. When disaster strikes, we are prepared to provide trained personnel, equipment, and manpower wherever we are needed.
