Message for Libertarians

Hi all,

My name is Ken Newhouse, and I am the Libertarian nominee for State Representative in Missouri’s 100th legislative district.The recent primary election demonstrated significant growth for our party in St. Louis County.

While the number of Libertarian ballots pulled may seem modest, it represents our highest primary turnout in the county in recent years. Given that this was an off-year primary, this upward trajectory is even more impressive.

Out of the few Libertarians running for State Representative across the county's legislative districts, I was proud to secure the highest individual total at 43 votes. Remarkably, the 100th district—together with the 88th district to our south—combined for 100 out of the 862 total countywide ballots.

To put that in perspective, our two areas represent a tiny fraction—just 7.4% (2 out of 27)—of the legislative districts in the county. Yet, we generated an impressive 11.6% (100 out of 862) of the entire countywide Libertarian primary turnout, with my own 100th district leading the charge with the most votes.

During this election cycle, I focused my campaign heavily on principled opposition to Amendment 5. We all know the systemic hurdles third-party candidates face when trying to win a legislative seat, but I am actively campaigning and refusing to sit on the sidelines.

This campaign serves as a practical blueprint not just for Libertarians in St. Louis County, but for candidates across the state. It only takes a few hundred dollars to run a highly effective, grassroots campaign. Buy some yard signs, knock on doors, run targeted Facebook ads, and—most importantly—stand at the polls on election day to talk directly with the voters.

The Libertarian Party represents a wide, diverse spectrum of philosophical thought, but we are entirely unified by our core commitment to individual liberty, personal privacy, and a strictly limited government.

Let’s stand firmly for our principles, get out into our communities, and offer voters a viable, principled alternative they can genuinely embrace.

Missouri’s Libertarian Party saw a significant showing in the 2026 primary for state auditor, with Dustin Coffell receiving 6,716 votes on August 4, 2026. VICTORY FOR MISSOURI! JEFFERSON CITY JUST GOT A REMINDER OF WHO IS IN CHARGE!

This evening, Missouri voters sent an unmistakable message to Jefferson City: our voice is OURS and our money is OURS.
As of this writing (10:00pm CDT, August 4, 2026) results are as follows with 1,645 of 3,235 precincts reporting:

Amendment 4:
Yes - 162,350 (20.13%)
No - 644,208 (79.87%)

Amendment 5:
Yes - 126,795 (15.71%)
No - 680,399 (84.29%)

By defeating Amendment 4 and Amendment 5, Missourians across the state stood up to protect our voice at the ballot box and safeguard the citizen initiative process and prevent a sales tax scheme that could have proven disastrous to those of our fellow citizens who can least afford it.
Amendment 4 was a direct attack on the right of the people to govern themselves - a blatant and shameless attempted power grab by a legislature that can't stand being told NO.
Amendment 5 was a reckless tax scheme that threatened to shift the tax burden onto the most vulnerable members of our society.
The word is out to the General Assembly. You are not trusted, and you serve US, not the other way around.
That said, here's something that should outrage every taxpayer in

Missouri: incumbent Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick endorsed and campaigned for both of these potentially destructive measures.
The primary job of the State Auditor is the be the chief financial watchdog for Missouri taxpayers - to safeguard public funds, ensure transparency, and protect your hard-earned dollars. Instead, he backed an anti-democratic power grab and a fiscally irresponsible tax shift that completely ignored the concerns of working-class families across the state.
Missouri deserves an Auditor who actually audits without bias and fights for transparency, fiscal responsibility, and the rights of every single voter.

Thank you to every voter, volunteer, and advocate who attended speeches and events across Missouri, and who showed up at the polls today to protect the rights of every person in this state, regardless of their political stripes.

Tonight, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we keep fighting for honest, accountable state government. The general election is 90 days away. Remember every single politician who spoke in favor of these abominations and vote accordingly.
