Attention Stapleton residents and visitors,

Under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 40-1-1), an ATV is defined as an off-road vehicle with a straddle seat, handlebars, and three or four low-pressure tires.

ATVs are not allowed on public roads or highways. Riders must stay on approved off-road areas and designated trails.

Operators must be at least 16 years old and wear a helmet at all times.

Stapleton Police Department will enforce these laws to keep our roads safe for everyone.

Thank you to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for inviting the Stapleton Police Department to take part in a large traffic safety checkpoint in Augusta, Georgia.

The meeting included more than 80 officers from over 11 state and local agencies. This level of teamwork builds strong partnerships and strengthens the law enforcement community.
