It was great to meet with the Miss Pennsylvania this week as they visited and toured the Pennsylvania Capitol, including Miss Happy Valley and Miss Central Pennsylvania! 👑☺️

Earlier this week, the PA Supreme Court delivered a long anticipated ruling on the use of skill games in Pennsylvania.

“We have a lot of veterans organizations, we have a lot of nonprofits that really rely on what has happened here, and now we need to tailor a plan that moving forward they’ll be able to still have these machines and still be able to benefit from them,” said Tor Michael McCartney, chief of staff for Rep. Scott Conklin

Today I joined advocates and survivors, including Centre Safe director Jennifer Pencek, to continue pushing for critically needed budget increases for r**e crisis centers in Pennsylvania. We are now in the sixth year of flat funding for these organizations, while need and demand continues to rise.

This is not a partisan issue. Pennsylvanians from all walks of life experience sexual/domestic violence, and it is incumbent upon the general assembly to show up for the people who show up for victims and survivors every single day.

Please contact your local legislators and address this issue with them. More info: https://pcar.org/support-funding-pennsylvania-r**e-crisis-centers

Yesterday, I was joined by legislators, school administrators and student-athletes from across the Commonwealth in support of my House Bill 41, which would allow the PIAA to create separate playoffs and championships for boundary and non-boundary schools.

It was compelling to hear from student-athletes that have been personally impacted by PIAA's existing competition structure. I appreciate the students from Old Forge School District making the trip to the Capitol to voice their support for fairness in school athletics. For my colleagues in the Senate, you have one more hurdle, and that's to hear this bill for the youth across the Commonwealth!

Today, my legislation to provide quicker election returns advanced through the House!

House Bill 37 would allow counties to pre-canvass mail-in and absentee ballots up to a full week before Election Day, allowing for faster election results and ensuring election workers have proper time to address large ballot quantities. This bill will go a long way toward upholding public trust in the Commonwealth's elections, and I call on my colleagues in the Senate to take up this conversation.

My legislation to improve housing affordability across the Commonwealth advanced through the House today!

House Bill 2391 would deter the practice of buying houses to fix and sell at a quick profit, also known as "house flipping," by allowing mortgage lenders to offer investors the option of better terms if they accept prepayment penalties. This option would open up more housing, stabilize prices and spur more long-term investment in our communities.

I appreciate my colleagues in the House for passing my bill and I urge the Senate to consider this for all Pennsylvanians.
