First Colony Branch Library - FBCL The First Colony Branch Library in Sugar Land is one of 12 branches of Fort Bend County Libraries, a public library system in Fort Bend County, Texas.

Fort Bend County Libraries' First Colony Branch Library opened in June 1993, the second of the four new branches built with bond-election funds voted for in 1989. Join STEMsters for a Marshmallow Catapult Trial Lesson this Thursday, August 20, at 4:00 pm. They will review a presentation covering various scientific concepts, such as potential and kinetic energy, angle degrees, and factors that affect air resistance. These concepts will be observed and demonstrated through a subsequent experiment, in which students will use chopsticks, marshmallows, and a spoon to construct their own catapult with volunteers available to assist. Students will be engaged throughout the whole lesson with icebreakers, discussion questions, a fun 'true or false' game, and a review of the concepts learned.

This program is geared for school-age youth grades K-5.
