Roads are still flooded in some areas. Please drive carefully, use caution, and remember: No Wake. Let’s help keep everyone and their property safe.

ROADWAY UPDATE – 4:00 PM

The New Jersey Department of Transportation has reopened Route 72 in both directions. Both eastbound and westbound lanes are currently open on the Causeway bridge, restoring access to and from Long Beach Island.

Morris Boulevard has also reopened to traffic.

Please be aware that flooding and standing water remain in several areas throughout Stafford Township and surrounding towns. Motorists should continue to use caution, avoid flooded roadways, and never drive around barricades.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and cooperation throughout the road closures and flooding conditions.

ROUTE 72 CAUSEWAY UPDATE – 7:00 AM

The Route 72 Causeway Bridge remains CLOSED in both directions at this time.

There are also multiple power outages throughout the area and severe flooding throughout town.

PLEASE STAY OFF THE ROADS.

There is no reason to be traveling at this time. Many roads are flooded and impassable, and with the bridge closed, travel is extremely limited.

Please stay home and allow Police, Fire, EMS, and utility crews the room they need to safely do their jobs. Unnecessary traffic can delay emergency responders and put both you and our crews at risk.

DO NOT attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

Please continue to monitor official updates and use caution. Stay home. Stay safe.

ROAD CLOSURE – ROUTE 72 EASTBOUND

Due to significant flooding and hazardous roadway conditions, Route 72 eastbound is currently closed at the Boatyard.

There is no access to Long Beach Island via Route 72 at this time.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, obey all barricades and traffic-control devices, and never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

Due to the current conditions and increased call volume, please reserve 911 for emergencies only.

We will provide additional updates as conditions change.

The members of Surf City Volunteer Fire Company & EMS extend our deepest condolences to Silverton Volunteer Fire Company Chief John Keating and his family following the tragic loss of his wife.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chief Keating, his family and friends, and the entire Silverton Volunteer Fire Company during this incredibly difficult time.

Surf City Fire Company was proud to stand alongside our fellow Island fire companies and first responders, walking side by side in honor and remembrance of the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the sacrifices made that day.

Twenty-five years later, the memories and emotions of September 11th remain with us. For the members of Surf City Fire Company, it was an honor to take part in this meaningful walk, standing together with our neighboring departments and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We walk in their memory. We honor their courage. We carry their legacy forward.

We Will Never Forget. 🇺🇸
