The Georgia Forestry Commission has issued a Burn Ban that covers 91 counties. Current wildfire locations are showed on this map as well. Please refrain from burning outdoors. Follow all local guidance and restrictions and be extremely cautious with anything that could create a spark.

Now Accepting Scholarship Essays

Georgia Arson Control is sponsoring the "Jim Swindell Scholarship" for individuals who reside in Georgia and work in public-safety.

The Georgia Fire Investigators Association is sponsoring the "Kevin Cunningham Scholarship" for individuals who reside in Georgia, and are GFIA members.

Applicants must email a one-page essay entitled, "Why I want to attend the Southeastern Annual Training Conference." Essays must be received no later than midnight May 15, 2026.

A record-breaking 185 attendees are participating in the Georgia Fire Investigator's Association spring conference being held in Cobb County.

A Union County man has been arrested in connection with a series of intentionally set wildfires in Georgia and North Carolina.

Following a joint investigation between the Georgia Forestry Commission’s Law Enforcement team and the North Carolina Forest Service, the suspect now faces 17 counts of arson of lands tied to roadside fires across both states.

This case highlights the critical work of our law enforcement officers and the strong coordination between partner agencies to protect Georgia’s forests and communities.
