We are SO excited to celebrate 20 years of Cards for a Cure! 💗

There are plenty of reasons to be excited: celebrating breast cancer patients and survivors, honoring this year’s special honoree, FSU Softball Head Coach Lonni Alameda, and spending a Saturday night with great food, drinks, games, live music and, of course, lots of friends!

And while all of that is pretty wonderful, we’re even more excited about what happens because of it.

When you join us for Cards for a Cure, you’re helping provide breast cancer patients in our community with the care and support they need, right here at home.

Community support through the TMH Foundation helps uninsured cancer patients access important imaging services, provides gas cards, transportation and lodging for patients traveling to Tallahassee for care, and brings advanced technology to the operating room and Cancer Center.

In 2025 alone, community donations helped make PET scans, MRIs and other imaging services possible for approximately 80 uninsured cancer patients. Donor support also provided more than 300 hotel nights for patients and their caregivers between October 2025 and July 2026.

And because breast cancer represents the largest share of the more than 2,000 new cancer cases diagnosed at Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center each year, supporting advanced breast cancer care makes a very real difference for our neighbors.

So come celebrate with us. Have a great night. Make some memories. And know that while you’re having fun, you’re helping local patients face cancer with greater access to care and support. 💗

🎟️ Join us for the 20th anniversary of Cards for a Cure on Saturday, Sept. 12, at The Moon.

Sometimes, the caretakers need a little care, too. 💙

Being a TMH Animal Therapy volunteer may look like it's all fun and furry friends—and a lot of the time, it is. But these volunteers also walk alongside patients and families during some of their most difficult moments. While they provide care in a different way than clinical staff or Spiritual Care, they are still caregivers, often witnessing trauma first-hand and carrying a lot of emotions along the way.

That’s why caring for our volunteers matters, too. Today, our Animal Therapy volunteers gathered at the Animal Therapy Training Center for a little self-care, connection and creativity during an iris-folding workshop, where they made greeting cards using colorful origami paper.

Workshops like this offer volunteers a chance to step away from their usual roles, spend time together and build community with the people who understand their experiences best. Many of these opportunities are also volunteer-led, making them a special way for the team to build community and care for one another.

And, of course, no Animal Therapy gathering would be complete without a therapy animal. 🐾 Muffin, a therapy cat in training, was on hand to keep a watchful eye on the humans, make sure everyone was following directions, do a little crafting of her own and, of course, offer some soft fur and purrs whenever someone needed a little break.

Because sometimes, the people who spend their days caring for others need a little break and someone, or some cat, to care for them, too. 💙🐱

🐾 We have some paw-sitively wonderful news to share!

Our TMH Animal Therapy family just got a little bigger. Longtime volunteers and supporters Chuck and Patty Mitchell, along with proud big sister Sharon, recently welcomed the sweetest new addition to their family, Basil Sunshine! 💙

Basil made the journey all the way from Michigan with the help of Amy Schupska, who lovingly transported her to her new home. In a beautiful full-circle moment, Amy was Sharon’s puppy raiser years ago, making Basil’s arrival even more special.

Although Basil was originally training to become a guide dog, life had a different plan for her. But, through TMH Animal Therapy’s Career Change Dog program, she found her perfect fit as a therapy dog.

Before long, you’ll see Basil making her rounds at TMH, bringing comfort, smiles and plenty of tail wags to patients, families and team members. She’ll also be helping Sharon ease into a well-earned retirement after years of making a difference.

Please help us give Basil the warmest TMH welcome. We can’t wait for you to meet her! 🐶💙

For 20 years, Cards for a Cure has brought our community together to support local breast cancer patients.

This year, we’re honored to celebrate someone who has been doing exactly that for years.

Meet our 2026 Cards for a Cure Honoree, FSU Softball Head Coach Lonni Alameda. 🩷

Coach Lonni has built one of the most successful programs in college softball history, leading Florida State to its first NCAA National Championship, surpassing 1,000 career wins and inspiring generations of student-athletes through her leadership, resilience and unwavering belief in others.

But her impact reaches far beyond the softball field.

Long before her own breast cancer diagnosis, Coach Lonni was showing up for local cancer patients through Florida State’s Paint It Pink initiative, raising funds, visiting patients at the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center and reminding those facing cancer that they were never alone.

When breast cancer became part of her own story in 2025, she met it with the same strength and grace that have defined her career.

Rather than stepping away, she leaned in even more, sharing her journey, proudly using her signature pink braid, and continuing to raise funds, awareness and hope for local patients and their families.

Coach Lonni reminds us that true leadership isn’t just measured by wins or championships. It’s measured by the lives you touch and the people you lift up along the way.

Join us on Sept. 12 as we celebrate Coach Lonni, honor breast cancer survivors and raise critical funds to help local cancer patients receive the care and support they need.
