🦩 The flock is officially taking flight! 🦩

Today, the Flamingo Challenge kicks off, and we’re inviting our community to join us in making a difficult journey a little easier for local breast cancer patients.

Presented by First Commerce Credit Union, with support from Altrua Global Solutions, the Flamingo Challenge helps provide resources through the TMH Walker Breast Program, including imaging for uninsured patients, lodging and transportation for those traveling for care, and access to advanced care close to home.

And there are lots of ways to join the flock! 💗

Last year, our community raised more than $100,000 through the Flamingo Challenge. Since the campaign began, more than $500,000 has been raised to help local breast cancer patients.

There’s something powerful about hearing someone tell their story in their own words.

At Saturday’s Cards for a Cure, we had the privilege of hearing Coach Lonni Alameda share hers.

As our 2026 honoree, Coach Lonni shared her breast cancer journey and the people who stood beside her along the way, from her family and FSU softball family to her TMH Cancer Center team and the Tallahassee community.

We’re incredibly grateful she trusted us with her story. We invite you to take a few minutes, settle in and hear from Coach Lonni herself about the people who gave her strength, hope and support along the way. We hope her story reminds you of just how much it means to have people beside you when you need them most.

It’s almost time to celebrate 20 years of Cards for a Cure with a night full of live music, dancing, games, food, drinks and plenty of fun!

We’re especially excited to celebrate this year’s honoree, FSU Softball Head Coach Lonni Alameda, and we can’t wait to share the evening with all of you!

🥋 Let’s KICK cancer together! 💗

For the Marky family and their Killearn Lakes TaeKwonDo family, the fight against cancer is deeply personal.

Master Ray Marky is a cancer survivor. Both of his parents faced cancer, and his wife Betty lost her brother to lung cancer. Instructors and other members of the KLTKD family have faced cancer, too.

Now, the Markys are turning those experiences into action — and giving our entire community a chance to join the fight.

Killearn Lakes TaeKwonDo is selling special-edition Kick Cancer T-shirts for $21 and pink belts for $12.

For every shirt and belt sold, $5 will be donated to support cancer care at the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center. KLTKD will also match donations up to $150! 💗

These gifts truly make a difference. Community donations help provide imaging for uninsured patients, transportation and gas cards for those traveling for treatment, hotel lodging for patients and caregivers, and advanced technology to provide lifesaving cancer care close to home.

Here’s what made our August:

🐾 Best self-care moment: Animal Therapy volunteers taking time to recharge, create and connect.

🏈 Most gameday-ready: TMH Gift Shop VIPs making sure fans are stocked up for tailgate season.

🎓 New beginnings: Thanks to Virginia Glass and the Glass Community Education Fund, 61 graduates are supported as they take their first steps toward careers in healthcare. 🩺💙

🐶 Best glow-up: Copper, from scrapyard rescue to beloved TMH therapy dog. ❤️

💗 Most heartwarming visit: Coach Lonni Alameda and the FSU Women’s Softball team bringing laughter, encouragement and plenty of smiles to the Cancer Center.

💙 Best reminder: Sometimes the smallest moments—a craft, support during a new season, a comforting paw or a little encouragement—can make the biggest difference.
