Congratulations, Graduates!

We are proud to celebrate Firefighters Austin Smith, Sean Novo, and Cleveland Singletary on graduating from Hillsborough College’s Paramedic Program.

This milestone represents countless hours of education, training, and dedication as they continue advancing their careers in the fire service.

Next, they will complete their Paramedic certification exam and the department’s sign-off process before serving our community as Firefighter Paramedics.

The Temple Terrace Fire Department is proud to announce that we have successfully earned our fifth reaccreditation through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), a program of the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE).

Accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process that evaluates our department’s performance, service delivery, planning, and commitment to continuous improvement against internationally recognized standards for excellence in the fire and emergency services.

TTFD is also proud to maintain an ISO Class 1 rating, placing us among just 127 CFAI-accredited agencies that also hold the highest ISO fire protection rating.
This achievement reflects the dedication of our personnel and our continued commitment to providing the highest level of service to the City of Temple Terrace.

Advanced skills. Lifesaving care.

TTFD firefighter-paramedics recently completed Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training, reinforcing critical skills used during life-threatening emergencies in adults and children.

Ongoing training helps ensure our crews are prepared to provide the highest level of care when every second counts. 🚑❤️

STRUCTURE FIRE RESPONSE

Last week, TTFD crews responded to a commercial structure fire at Brow & Lash on N. 56th Street after a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy noticed heavy smoke coming from the building and immediately called 9-1-1.

Firefighters quickly confirmed a working fire and brought it under control in approximately 20 minutes. The fire caused significant damage to the business and an upstairs storage unit, but thanks to the rapid response, coordinated efforts, and aggressive fire attack by responding crews, the fire was prevented from spreading further throughout the wood-frame structure.

There were no injuries to occupants or firefighters.
We appreciate the assistance of our partners at Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Tampa Fire Rescue, and the Florida State Fire Marshal's Office, which is conducting the ongoing investigation.

Outstanding work by all involved. Your professionalism, teamwork, and decisive actions made the difference.🔥

Thinking of the men and women of HCFR. 🙏

It is with profound sadness that Hillsborough County Fire Rescue announces the passing of Lieutenant Donald James Sargent.

Lt. Sargent faithfully served the residents of Hillsborough County and the HCFR family for more than 12 years, most recently assigned to Rescue 15 on C Shift.

He was far more than a dedicated firefighter and paramedic. Lt. Sargent was a father, a son, a friend, a brother, a mentor to many, a member of the HCFR hockey team, and a valued member of our fire rescue family. His commitment to serving others and the relationships he built throughout his career leave a lasting impact on our department.

Today, our hearts are with Lt. Sargent’s family, friends, crew members, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him. We ask our community to surround his family, friends, and fellow first responders with compassion and support in the difficult days ahead.

We also want to remind everyone that even those who dedicate their lives to helping others sometimes need help themselves. If you are struggling, please reach out. Talk to someone you trust, a friend, a family member, a peer, or a professional. Asking for help is a sign of strength, and no one should have to carry life's burdens alone.

To our HCFR family, please check on one another, and please take care of yourselves and each other.

WELCOME BACK, STUDENTS!

TTFD crews were out bright and early this morning helping welcome students, teachers, and staff back for the first day of school.

Stationed near local schools with our fire apparatus and "Drive Safely" signs, our firefighters reminded motorists to slow down, stay alert, and watch for students, crossing guards, and school buses.

We wish everyone a safe, successful, and exciting school year. Have a great first day! 🚒📚
