Training tomorrow’s first sergeants to lead through life’s toughest moments, because readiness starts with leaders prepared to care for Airmen and their families.

Prospective additional duty first sergeants, also known as “undershirts,” from across Tinker Air Force Base, as well as local Reserve and Air National Guard units, participated in a culminating First Sergeant Symposium event hosted by the 507th Air Refueling Wing’s First Sergeant, Master Sgt. Dontia Yates.

Participants worked through realistic training scenarios designed to prepare them for the challenges of caring for Airmen and their families. Scenarios included responding to Airmen experiencing suicidal ideations, domestic violence situations and the impacts of natural disasters.

The hands-on training reinforced the critical role first sergeants play in supporting readiness, resilience and the well-being of the force.

Today, members of the 72nd Aerial Port Squadron demonstrated and tested the capabilities of the Deployable Automatic Cargo Measurement System. DACMS measures numerous factors such as speed, center weight, and mass.

Using lasers and floor-pad sensors, DACMS captures data while vehicles are in motion, allowing for instantaneous center-of-balance calculations.
