The Grayson Highlands School PreK class enjoyed a fun and educational field trip to Grayson Highlands State Park. Chief Ranger, Kevin Kelly taught students about settler life 100 years ago as they explored the log cabins, spring house, outhouse, and an old wagon once used in the mountains. Students learned about daily chores, one-room cabin living, and how families traveled long ago.
Students then visited the famous Wayne C Henderson stage where they recited the Pledge of Allegiance & sang the National Anthem. Students then enjoyed lunch in the beautiful setting of the picnic area and explored the “Indian Rock” also in the picnic area.
After a short drive up the mountain, students hiked to the “Magic Tree,” visited the Wildcat Overlook with views of Haw Orchard Church & cemetery with the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains in the background. Their day concluded with a final scenic stop overlooking the Rugby community.

On April 22, we celebrated our Ms. Jessie for Administrative Professional's Day! Ms. Jessie keeps the office running smoothly, stands in for the nurse when needed, makes purchases for us, and a million other things every day! We hope she knows how much we appreciate all her hard work and dedication for our school. She is a blessing to us, and we are glad to have her as part of the GHS family. We are surely glad the Force brought you here, and we've got a good feeling about your presence here!

To the ones who start their day before sunrise and make sure everyone else gets where they need to go safely—thank you!

Bus drivers do so much more than drive. You greet us with a smile, show patience on the toughest days, and keep our communities moving no matter the weather or traffic. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed.

Today we celebrate you and all the miles, moments, and kindness you share along the way. Happy Bus Driver Day!
