Mr. Speelman’s gardening elective joined the Arizona Conservation Corps to do habitat restoration at Tumacácori National Historical Park. Students removed invasive Johnsongrass and planted native Giant Sacaton grass in its place. This partnership with the AZCC opens up another career path to Nosotros Academy students that are interested in nature and ecosystems.

Vida continues to make a difference in our community through his work with Youth on Their Own and the Youth Action Board (YAB). Seeing our alumni give back, serve others, and lead with compassion is exactly what Nosotros Academy is all about.

Moments like these remind us that our students are not only preparing for college and careers — they are becoming leaders who uplift their communities.

🎺✨ Our Nosotros Academy Mariachi Students had their first traveling gig! ✨🎶

They had the incredible opportunity to perform for the amazing elders in the Senior Program at the City of Tucson El Rio Neighborhood Center ❤️ It was truly a special moment—watching our youth connect with the community through the power of music!

The joy, the smiles, and the energy in the room made it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved 🙌

👏 Special thanks to City of Tucson Parks and Rec Directors Paul Ponce and Dianne for organizing such a meaningful event!
