Beacon Group

Beacon Group Beacon Group creates opportunities for people with disabilities. We help people go from tax-supported to tax-payers.

Since 1952, Beacon has been a leader in providing real jobs and employment-related services to people with disabilities in Arizona, serving over 2,100 people with disabilities each year. Since our beginnings in 1952, Beacon Group has been committed to providing employment related opportunities to people with disabilities. We provide training, development and access to real work for a segment of ou

r community that traditionally bears a 70% unemployment rate. In 2003, Beacon Foundation and Tetra Corporation merged to become the Beacon Group, and we now serve over 2,100 disabled persons a year. We provide a variety of employment related programs, as well as the education and socialization necessary for our clients to lead meaningful, productive lives. Our workshops offer local businesses assembly, packaging, collating and document shredding services. We also employ offsite work crews that perform grounds keeping, clerical, assembly, automobile detailing, food service and custodial maintenance.

Last week at the SourceAmerica XForce 2026 National Conference, Beacon Group accepted the Business Partnership Award on behalf of our longtime partner, Jim Click of Jim Click Auto. The award is given to a business or individual who has partnered with a nonprofit to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities, and Jim Click exemplifies the spirit of this recognition.

He has partnered with Beacon Group for over 50 years, currently employing more than 40 workers with disabilities at his dealerships and creating employment opportunities for hundreds more over the years.

What makes this partnership especially meaningful is Mr. Click’s genuine commitment to the people he employs. He takes the time to build personal connections with Beacon employees and has created a culture of inclusion and respect at his dealerships.

We are so grateful for this partnership and proud to celebrate Mr. Click’s leadership and commitment to inclusive employment.

Mental health conditions can affect anyone. In fact, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are over 9x more likely to report experiencing anxiety or depression and experience significantly higher mental health symptom burden, according to a study in JAMA Network Open.
Economic instability, housing insecurity, unemployment, and limited access to healthcare can increase stress and worsen mental health conditions. All of these social determinants of health are ones that may be faced by people with disabilities and at Beacon we put a strong emphasis on compassion and understanding when providing support.

Serious mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and major depression are medical conditions, not personal failures. Serious mental illness can substantially interfere with major life activities, including work, school, relationships, and self-care.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. With the theme of "See the Person. Support the Journey" we keep in mind that mental health is part of everyday life, shaping how we think, feel, connect with others, and move through the world.

Understanding mental illness leads to compassion. Mental health conditions are medical conditions and people living with them are more than a diagnosis. This , let’s lead with understanding. Learn more: samhsa.gov/mental-health
