đź‘€ Any guesses what you're looking at?

It's not a vending machine.

It's not a medication organizer from a doctor's office.

It's part of the daily work happening inside the George Prothro Pharmacy at Tulsa County Social Services.

Every blister pack represents medications that have been carefully sorted, inspected, and prepared so they can be safely dispensed to patients who otherwise may not be able to afford them.

Behind every prescription is a team focused on accuracy, safety, and serving our community.

Sometimes the biggest impact happens quietly, one prescription at a time. đź’™

đź’— Meet Emily

When clients arrive at Tulsa County Social Services, there’s a good chance Emily is one of the first friendly faces they’ll see.

As one of our daytime Client Services Security Receptionists (CSSRs), Emily helps keep the Transitional Living Center (TLC) desk running smoothly while making sure our clients’ day-to-day needs are met. Whether she’s welcoming someone into the building, helping answer questions, coordinating with staff, or assisting with daily operations, she’s an important part of helping our programs function each day.

Emily also serves as one of our transportation drivers, taking clients to medical appointments, interviews, and other important destinations. For many of the individuals and families we serve, reliable transportation can be the difference between missing an opportunity and moving one step closer to stability.

Every role at Tulsa County Social Services plays a part in restoring hope, and Emily’s willingness to serve wherever she’s needed helps keep that mission moving forward.

Thank you, Emily, for your dedication to serving our clients and supporting our team every day.

Every prescription tells a story.

For some people, it's medication that helps control blood pressure.

For others, it's insulin, antibiotics, inhalers, or medication that simply helps them make it through another day.

Behind every bottle is someone carefully checking, counting, labeling, and making sure everything is right before it reaches the person who needs it.

At the George Prothro Pharmacy, those quiet moments happen every day.

One prescription.
One person.
One opportunity to make a difference.

This is Kimmee and Danny. Together, they help keep the George Prothro Pharmacy running smoothly by preparing medications, assisting patients, answering questions, managing inventory, and ensuring every prescription is handled with care and accuracy. Their work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is felt every day by the people who depend on this pharmacy.

Whether someone is picking up a lifesaving medication or simply needs help navigating the process, Kimmee and Danny help make sure they're greeted with kindness, respect, and compassion.

We're grateful for the dedication they bring to our team and to the community we serve.

💙 Thank you, Kimmee and Danny, for helping us meet needs, restore hope, and care for our neighbors—one prescription at a time.

đź’™ Meet Brandon

If you’ve ever called or stopped by Tulsa County Social Services, chances are you’ll remember Brandon.

With a personality as big as his heart, Brandon has a way of making people feel seen—even on some of the hardest days of their lives.

Brandon serves in two of our most unique roles, helping determine eligibility for both our Social Services Pharmacy and our Cremation Assistance Program. Every day, he meets people facing loss, financial hardship, and uncertainty. As someone who has experienced the unimaginable loss of a child himself, he understands grief in a deeply personal way. He doesn’t simply process paperwork—he offers compassion, listens with empathy, and reminds families that someone truly cares.

His heart for helping doesn’t stop there.

Brandon also assists individuals with clothing and other essential resources, always looking for ways to connect people with the support they need. Around the office, we jokingly call him “Tulsa County’s 2-1-1.” People frequently call thinking they’ve reached Social Security, DHS, Family Court, or another agency altogether. Rather than ending the conversation with, “You have the wrong number,” Brandon takes the time to help them find the right one.

That willingness to go the extra mile reflects what Tulsa County Social Services is all about.

Thank you, Brandon, for bringing compassion, persistence, and a human touch to every conversation. Your willingness to help others—whether they’re our clients or simply someone searching for answers—makes a difference every single day.

đź’™ Meet April!

If you’ve spent any time at Tulsa County Social Services, chances are you’ve met April.

As our Transitional Living Center Manager, April leads with a unique balance of compassion, accountability, and wisdom. She has the ability to meet people where they are while never losing sight of where they can become.

Since joining our team, April has been instrumental in helping shape the vision of our Transitional Living Center. She is thoughtful, fair, and deeply invested in both our clients and our staff. Whether she’s coaching a team member, problem-solving a difficult situation, celebrating a client’s success, or developing new ideas to strengthen our program, she approaches each day with purpose.

One of the things I appreciate most about April is that she doesn’t just carry out the vision for our program—she helps refine it. She asks hard questions, offers thoughtful solutions, and isn’t afraid to challenge ideas if it means we’ll serve people better. That kind of partnership is invaluable.

Leadership can sometimes be behind the scenes, but its impact is felt everywhere. The culture we’re building at Tulsa County Social Services is stronger because of April’s dedication, integrity, and heart for people.

Thank you, April, for your leadership, your friendship, and for believing in the mission of restoring hope right alongside me. I’m incredibly grateful you’re part of this journey. 💙

🌱 Meet James!

Since joining Tulsa County Social Services in June, James has quickly become an invaluable member of our Operations Team.

From reorganizing supply rooms to helping maintain our facility, James approaches every task with a positive attitude and a willingness to jump in wherever he’s needed. One of his greatest strengths is his knowledge and passion for plants. He has helped breathe new life into our indoor and outdoor landscaping, including caring for our aeroponic garden tower and community garden.

His work does more than keep our grounds looking beautiful—it helps create a welcoming, peaceful environment for the individuals and families staying in our Transitional Living Center.

If you’ve met James, you’ve probably noticed his smile. His kindness, encouragement, and servant’s heart make a difference not only to our team, but to the clients we serve each day.

We’re grateful to have James on the TCSS team and look forward to all the ways he’ll continue helping our community grow. 💙🌿

At Tulsa County Social Services, we believe growth happens in many forms. Sometimes it’s a new beginning for a client. Sometimes it’s a seed becoming a harvest. James helps nurture both.

🌿 Meet Kim!

Kim has been serving Tulsa County since 2018, and we’re grateful to have her back at Tulsa County Social Services.

After beginning her County career with Social Services and later serving with Parks, Kim returned to TCSS, bringing with her a strong work ethic, creative ideas, and a heart for serving others.

Whether she’s preparing rooms for incoming clients, helping care for our gardens, making our floors shine, or finding new ways to improve our facility, Kim approaches every task with excellence and a positive attitude. She has a gift for seeing opportunities to make things better and isn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves to help bring those ideas to life.

The work Kim does behind the scenes helps create a clean, welcoming, and comfortable environment where individuals and families can focus on rebuilding their lives.

Thank you, Kim, for your dedication, kindness, and the many ways you help make Tulsa County Social Services a place of hope and restoration. We’re so thankful you’re part of our team! 💙🌱

📚 Back to School Starts Here

As students head back to school, our team is working behind the scenes to help make sure every child at our Transitional Living Center has the opportunity to start the year ready to learn.

While parents are working hard to rebuild stability, we’re working alongside them to remove barriers that can stand in the way of their children’s education.

Bill, our Family & Individual Support Specialist, helps families navigate school enrollment, transportation, and connections to resources available through the McKinney-Vento Act, ensuring children experiencing homelessness can continue their education with as little disruption as possible.

Throughout the year—and even during the summer—Ms. Jennifer, our Tulsa Public Schools teacher, provides tutoring, homework assistance, and engaging educational activities that help our students continue learning and growing. Her classroom is a place where curiosity is encouraged, confidence is built, and every child is reminded that their future is full of possibilities.

A stable home changes lives, but so does a stable education.

We’re grateful for partners like Tulsa Public Schools and for team members like Bill and Ms. Jennifer who invest in our families every single day.

Because every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream—no matter where their journey begins. 💙📚

đź’™ A Conversation Can Change a Life

Some of the most important work we do doesn't happen in meetings.

It happens one conversation at a time.

Encouragement.

Accountability.

Problem solving.

Hope.

Sometimes what changes a person's future starts with someone simply taking the time to listen.

Our clients are on a roll lately!!! Here's another Housing Success Story we wanted to share about The T couple:

A New Beginning

Every journey to stability looks a little different, and this one was built on perseverance, partnership, and a commitment to keep moving forward.

When this couple entered our Transitional Living Center, they made the decision to embrace the opportunity in front of them. Together, they put in the work required to move beyond crisis and toward a more stable future. They committed to the expectations of the program, worked toward their goals, and continued taking one step at a time—even when the road wasn't always easy.

Along the way, they demonstrated resilience, accountability, and a willingness to keep pressing forward. Rather than allowing obstacles to define them, they focused on building a stronger foundation for the future they wanted together.

Today, they are beginning a new chapter in a place they can call home. While they have chosen to keep their names and photos private, they gave us permission to celebrate this milestone in hopes that their journey might encourage someone else who is just beginning their own.

We know that housing is more than four walls—it's the foundation from which people can continue rebuilding their lives. We are proud of the hard work this couple invested in their future and grateful to have walked alongside them during this season.

Congratulations on this well-earned milestone. We wish you both continued success, happiness, and many blessings as you make your new house a home.
