On Tuesday, Ann, Eric, and Jacqueline took the oath to become Court Appointed Special Advocates. After completing their training, they are ready to stand up for children in foster care and help ensure their voices are heard.

Thank you to The Honorable Judge Gary Davis for conducting the swearing-in ceremony.

We are excited to see the difference these advocates will make for children in Tulsa County.

Antonia steps into the crucial role of Chief Morale Officer & Head of Naps, bringing a fresh take on fetching, looking ridiculously cute, and providing emotional support during budget meetings.

As Executive Director Liz Fisher’s personal assistant/fur-baby, Antonia’s primary responsibilities will include:
• Conducting mandatory lap audits 🛋️
• Offering unsolicited legal paw-vice ⚖️
• Ensuring no stray snacks fall on the office floor 🦴
• Demanding belly rubs during important phone calls 📞

Being a CASA means standing beside a child when life feels uncertain and making sure their voice is not lost within the system.

Many people call themselves advocates, but becoming a CASA requires more than a title. You must complete specialized training, undergo extensive background checks, and learn advocacy, relevant laws, confidentiality, the court process, and how to represent a child’s best interests. You are then sworn in, appointed to a case, and become an officer of the court.

It is one thing to say you advocate for children. It is another to be trained, vetted, trusted, and court appointed to do the work!

This role is continually growing me in how I support others, listen beyond what is spoken, and help people find and use their own voices.

I am proud to serve as a Court Appointed Special Advocate. This work is about showing up, paying attention, and making sure a child is not left unheard or alone.

I encourage anyone with a genuine heart to serve and the commitment to be properly trained to consider becoming a CASA.

A huge thank you to One Hope Tulsa for inviting Tulsa CASA to be part of an important conversation with their summer interns.

Training & Recruitment Specialist Audra had the opportunity to visit the Rose Bowl and discuss a sobering reality: many youth aging out of foster care face an increased risk of homelessness without the support and connections they need to thrive.

We talked about how CASA volunteers make a lasting difference by advocating for children and youth in foster care, helping ensure they have stability, support, and a trusted adult in their corner as they navigate life's transitions.

We're grateful to these interns for their thoughtful questions and commitment to learning about the challenges facing teens in foster care—and the solutions that can change outcomes for the better.

Thank you, One Hope Tulsa, for investing in the next generation of leaders and for including Tulsa CASA in this impactful conversation!
