Join us for a reading of how How Do Apples Grow? by Betsy Maestro on Monday, September 28 @ 4:00pm at our Scotia Branch Library!

After learning about the life cycle of an apple, we’ll explore how apples grow through hands-on activities! Using horizontally sliced apples, magnifying glasses, washable paint, and paper, participants will observe the apple’s internal structure and discover the natural five-point star pattern formed by its seed cavities. We’ll then use the apple as a stamp to create unique geometric designs and an eye-catching work of art using washable paint.

For kids in grades K-5. Registration required for each child attending.

Chinese paper-cutting is deeply rooted in rural life and culture, carrying multiple layers of meaning. Traditionally, it was used for prayers—invoking rain, warding off misfortune, and expressing wishes for good fortune, wealth, happiness, longevity, love, and prosperity.
