Today, we celebrate an important chapter in the history of Engine Company 3.
On this day in 1971, our current firehouse was officially dedicated after the devastating fire that destroyed the original quarters in December 1969.
What could have been the end of an era instead became the beginning of a new one. Through the dedication and hard work of the Engine 3 Building Committee, along with the support of our members and community, a new home was built—one that has proudly served Engine 3 and the residents of Valley Stream for more than five decades.
As we look back, we’re reminded that while buildings may change, the pride, tradition, and commitment to serving our community remain the same.
Here’s to those who rebuilt, those who have served within these walls, and those who continue to carry the Engine 3 legacy forward.
