Our members have been standing by in quarters since 6pm last night and will continue for the duration of the storm. So far we have handled multiple medical calls, which also require one of our engines to respond to shovel out for the ambulance crew. Please do your part and clear out your closest fire hydrant. Seconds count in the case of a fire.

The Lynbrook Fire Department experienced a notably busy New Year's Day. Following an earlier response to a working house fire, the department was alerted to another house fire on Hendrickson Avenue. Upon arrival, Chief of Department Clayton Murphy declared a 'Signal 10' for a working fire. Engine 421 arrived first, followed shortly by Tower Ladder 427. Firefighters promptly extinguished the blaze and conducted extensive overhaul operations. During the response, a cat was rescued, and a homeowner received minor injuries, treated by the department's medical team. The department commends its members for their swift fire knockdown and extends gratitude to neighboring departments for their mutual aid assistance.

With units arriving on scene shortly thereafter, it was discovered that the fire had extended inside the house as well and a signal 10 was transmitted. The fire was contained to the area of origin and units were on scene for a little over an hour.
